Cannot see Turn Signal Indicators

Am I the only one who can't see the turn signal indicators because the steering wheel blocks them? I've caught myself driving for miles with the turn signals on and no idea (and no, too much Ted Nugent in my past to hear them :-)

What a HUGE help if they displayed as part of the HUD!

Maybe move the steering wheel up/down as necessary to bring them into view?

If the cluster is blocked by the wheel then you don't have it properly positioned...

You can also adjust the height of your seat as well....

I find them very easy to see in almost any configuration.

Tom, use all the gadgets the car comes with to get the prefect position.

Tom,

I had to chuckle just a little at your question.

I was a police officer for 10yrs and you think leaving your blinker on was bad, I can't tell you how many cops I've seen driving down the road with the red and blue emergency lights on and not a clue.

If another officer observed the lights on, that officer would announce over the police radio, "lights are on". You can bet about 80 officers driving looked down at the siren box to make sure it wasn't them.

Now a days, when you have your emergency red and blue lights on, it beeps (loudly) every minute.

I heard once that signals left on could mean the driver has been *drinking*

Ok, I guess I should have asked ... "does the steering wheel block your view of the turn signal indicators when you have it and the seat set in the most comfortable positions?". Obviously can see anything if you make that your priority for setting the adjustable items in the cabin.

I'm 6-2 and had same problem in my C350 before this car, so I'm just saying Mercedes could have done a better job accomodating tall drivers.

I'm still using the "arm out the window" technique. LOL. Unfortunately I forget to pull my arm back into the car on occasion.

I have the same issue at only 6ft-1. I cannot adjust the steering wheel where I want it without blocking the turn signal indicators and the top part of the speed and rpm gauges. Without lowering the seat to the floor or raising it till my head hits, it cannot be corrected
If people adjusted the wheel the way I do then they would be complaining too.
I adjust the seat for comfort and performance to the pedals first. Then for the view front and around the car. Then the wheel for comfort and performance. Then I look at the gauges and it's YIKES! I had to get used to a wheel tilt I did not like at the start. More like a bus driver tilt.
Adjusting for the gauges early on in the procedure would fix it.

a lot of people like to keep the steering wheel angled close to 90 degree with backrest up - myself included. This can be considered less relaxed position - I just prefer it more over laying back. A habit drawn from race track days, I think. And with this setup, neither of my benzes allows me to see the indicator (w211, w221, w216, w218 nor w222). It's just a matter of individual preference with your position behind the steering wheel, I guess...

You have to remember that Germans take their driving seriously. The first lesson you learn at any Mercedes AMG or BMW M driving school is proper positioning in the "cockpit" so that you have optimum access and range of motion of the controls (steering, braking, accelerating and vision). It may not be the most comfortable, but it is the safest and gives you optimal control over the car. To the Germans, optimum control over the car is paramount, even over comfort. Only then can you truly appreciate the engineering that goes into Mercedes, BMW and other German brands. Whether or not you ever take your German car to the track, you owe it to yourself to invest in one of the performance driving schools to really appreciate these cars in their designed environments.

At the end of the day, its impossible to design a car to where every shape and size person can sit in it and have exactly the ideal experience. Every car will have people who when they adjust everything ideally for them some things are occluded. Sucks for those it impacts but it is what it is.
