I don't think many people know this but you could have ordered your car with an ashtray or with a stowage tray. I bought from Mercedes for 68.00, a stowage tray and then a rubber cover mat for $23. I then ordered off Amazon for $13, a flat USB charging mat and a $5, 12V to 7W USB converter. I removed the cover in the bottom on the new tray, cut out the hole for the size of the charging mat, wired them into the OEM plug, where the lighter used to go, (without cutting into the factory harness). Now, I have a place to finally put my iPhone Pro Max and you can't even tell it wasn't from the factory. best 115.00. I've ever spent.

Can you post a picture of this tray? Do you have a part number?

OP, how does the ashtray actually come out of the dash? Any fasteners to remove?

Two torque screws, one on each side of the unit.

Sorry, but the photo that you submitted was way dark on my screen. I hate to be a burden, but this was such a good idea, could you please post another photo, with lighter (or more brightness) tones. Thanks.
Great Idea. I intend to do it soon.

Do you know if these parts also work for the C217 S550 Coupe?

I too can't make anything of it. Please post a clearer brighter image.

Here are three pictures. One with the phone, one without the phone and one without the carpet showing the charger pad. I didn’t go through the guy in EU. This part had been discontinued, which is against the law. Manufacturers are by law supposed to supply all parts for every car for 7 years, from the date it became obsolete. How Mercedes is able to get around this law is beyond me. It’s held in with 2 screws.
