W222 Ski Pass-Thru Rear Console Mod
Has anyone modified the rear seat center storage area with a ski pass-thru door on their W222? Or did MB offer a ski pass-thru "bag" option like on the E-Class?
Her skis fit diagonally in the boot, mine do not. Our W223 has a ski pass-thru door, the 2019 W222 does not. Since we don't have the refrigerator option but do have the executive rear seat options with standard folding center console, it appears that the rear of the plastic storage area could have a door cut and then another door cut on the felt covered plastic cover in the trunk. Their may be a metal bracket in the way also.
I'm going to take a look at modifying this set up if there's no factory option besides a roof rack. It'll need to look factory, so I may use the carefully cut out pieces re-installed with rubber trim around them or new black plastic pieces slightly over sized as doors. I'd also like to maintain a sound barrier aspect although I've read of folks opening these areas for bass pass-thru when an aftermarket sub-woofer in the trunk is used. If someone's already done the deed, please post some photos. I'll post some photos if & when I'm done. Thanks.

I did have a pass through in my 2015 that an audio shop installed as a way to create a passthrough for a sub. It looked OK but probably not factory and not something I would do again. I have this problem on my 2019 S63 as well and might look at a door system from the factory refrigerator option if there is a clean way to do that. Short of that it looks like you can get a W222 compatible roof rack for a few hundred bucks on ebay. I plan on getting one of those regardless as I want a way to transport bikes.

FYI... up to 130's will fit diagonally in the trunk. Up to 145's can lay flat across the floor in the rear seating area. You could probably get some longer skis diagonally in the rear seat area but you'd definitely be into the passenger seating.

Good afternoon everyone.
Logic how to address this upgrade is more or less not different than installing the cooler/fridge and is far less complicated. Even in Mercedes data you will see ski-bag and fridge on the same page.
Photos and discussion already took place here :

I don’t exactly follow the Mercedes idea, about having they sik bag. I only do the penetration which is used for fridge installation. I simply use my own ski-bag which are water proof , better in quality cheaper and available on the market.
The problem which I had in my car was the bracket and the fact that I didn't want to lose any space in trunk. Therefore a bracket which I bought from dealer A2226400100 still need to be modified to suit to my trunk back liner on top of that. Most likely you already have this type of bracket fitted . I’m fitting a hatch 22292074219051 . I don’t have any photos now as I’m out of the country for some time.

Looking good so far with that refrigerator mod. I pulled the verticle Bulkhead off and now my 145 skis fit diagonally in the trunk haha. Don't really want to run it that way so I'm still looking at options.

I have removed the box in the back where the refrigerator would go. I'm referring to the box behind the fold down armrest in the center seat. It wasn't too difficult. Had to remove the back seat bench, then remove the back seat back. Then remove the four screws around the bezel of the box. Then in the trunk, you remove the brace on the back of the box which the aforementioned screws thread into. Although I'm an avid skier, I didn't do it for a ski passthrough, I did it so my trunk mounted subwoofer could be heard better in the cabin of the car. For skiing I use a roof-top box mounted to my roof rack. Seems to work well to stash four pair of skis and poles. I have the OEM Mercedes roof box that my dealer sold me for $350. I installed an electric lift system in my garage that I can use to lift the roof box off easily with a pair of straps. I guess I wouldn't like to put skis into my car after skiing - usually they're dripping wet and if I were to slam on the brakes I'd hate to have my skis hit my windshield.
