Both Batteries bad $1200 plus tax
Took my 2019 s560 in to get a key fob, 4 wheel alignment and check both batteries because they are almost 5 years old. Vehicle was built 6/18.
Got the estimate for the batteries which both tested bad of course.
634.02 for main battery installed
566.46 for Auxiliary battery installed
I'm going to replace them myself.
I'm asking the community if there is a battery of choice for each of these?

I changed the auxiliary battery in my 2015 at the weekend, I bought a genuine mercedes battery from a main dealer here in the uk that has an ebay shop.
I paid £86 for the battery including delivery and it took me less than 1 hour to do the job.
I searched youtube and learned how to do it by watching the video.
You have to remove 2 torx screws initially in the rear of the boot floor lift up flap to lift it out of the way , then several other little "push fit" fasteners, this enables you to flex the side carpet panel out of the way, disconnecting a small light and the accessory socket beforehand by just pulling the plug connectors out.
There are then three 9 or 10mm nuts to remove in order to ease the side fusebox out of the way a little.
The battery holder can then be slid forward by pressing a small retainer clip down.
Once slid forward the cover can be opened and the wires disconnected from the battery, then lift the battery out.( this is a bit fiddly due to the weight )
Then fit the new battery and follow the reverse procedure.
Take a look at you tube to learn a bit more.
A big difference between your price of $566 and mine of £86 plus one hours work.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Dealer quoted me $475.00 installed for a aux battery. Called Batteries plus bulbs and they were 80.00 dollars for the battery with the 20 percent off for online booking of install. They wouldn't install it cant blame them so I took the battery to a independent benz repair shop down the the road from the battery place and they did it for 120 bucks in about a half an hour. So 200 vs 475 dollars. At batteries plus bulbs they checked my main battery and found it to be ok but would have been around 275 dollars if it were bad, it was a duracell battery. The aux battery was a power sonic battery, hopefully hold up at least 3 years or so.

I can get 2 Duralast batteries for $350., 2 Diehards for $414 or a Duracell main for $250 and a Power Sonic auxiliary battery for $100.
Which is the best brand nowadays?

I put one of these in my car last fall ... https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...0-CCA/40647529. 58 lbs, so good exercise, but other than that easy as can be.
As others mentioned you can get an equivalent aux battery for under a hundred. It's harder than it should be to get to that battery, but can be done if you're patient.
Good luck!

That price is ridiculous
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...mer-0009829308
Theres your rear battery - Takes maybe 30-40 minutes to install at least it did for me and I organized my trunk
https://www.oemvehicleparts.com/oem-...attery-9821808
Theres your 105AH battery - I found a coupon code to save 50% on Shipping
Coupon CODE GXORFIFTYOFF
That's almost $550 dollars cheaper. Some of the batteries people buy are 95AH the one linked is the 105AH and both are OEM not to mention if and when the AUX battery goes in 4 -6 years? it'll be replaced no charge
This counts as my good deed for the day lol

The main battery is much easier to replace than the aux battery... Aux battery may be less/more difficult depending on certain options the car has... I replaced my AUX battery with one I got on amazon that was highly rated lol. I think it was around $60.
This video is very helpful.

I think I've decided to go with 2 Duralast batteries from Autozone. They are available locally and is the only H9-AGM main battery I can find at a retailer that's 950cca.
Main Battery - Duralast Platinum H9-AGM - 3 Year Warranty - 239.99 - 12v, 950cca, 1000a, 94R group size, AGM
Auxiliary Battery - Duralast Platinum Aux14 - 3 Year Warranty - 109.99 - 400 group size, 200cca, AGM

I just changed my main battery. Interstate AGM from Costco. Nothing comes close in price, Mercedes one is double the price. Dont get Duralast, its crap. You need Group Size: H8 (49) AGM. My Costco charged me $185 plus tax. Easy to install, takes 15 min. 3 year warranty and Costco's easy return policy makes it a no brainer.

I replaced both batteries on my W166 and bought them from the dealer. I recommend this. Batteries at BMW, Porsche and MB dealers are the same, or nearly the same, price as can be found at retail parts stores. Plus you get the correct part number without question. And a granola bar!

2017 S550 battery look up at Interstate Batteries website - https://www.interstatebatteries.com/...enz-s550-v846l
Can't even lookup one for a 2018 except for an S63
Looks like in 2018 MB went to the H9-AGM main battery for the S class sedan which is not available from Interstate yet.
I had a friend tell me that Bosch batteries was the way to go for a Mercedes non factory replacement battery.

Just called my local MB dealer. 2019 S560 Battery prices
$491 for the Main
$172 for the Aux
$663 total
The Bosch will be $470 plus tax. I live close enough to drive to Boca Raton FL and switch out the batteries right there with some pre prep. I'll save the shipping and core charges.
After searching a while for best price I found RockAuto.com sells them for $503 delivered. That may be the best choice.

I heard somewhere there are like four companies that make almost all car batteries ... zillions of brands, warranties, etc. but basically all the same ...

Don’t bash Duralast batteries. I have Duralast AGM batteries in both my Mercedes, H8 in ML & H9 in S. Also used Duralast batteries in several other cars of mine with excellent performance. The label on the battery says Made in Germany. Can’t beat that for $239.99. Includes 3 year warranty.

Just ordered the Bosch main and auxiliary batteries from Rockauto.com $503 delivered
Best choice for aftermarket batteries.
Bosch batteries are used on many German made vehicles and you can't beat the 4 year warranty (except for fcpeuro.com lifetime warranty) which I just found out about after I ordered the Bosch but I'm not upset.
