Front bottom cushion heated seat not working.

As mentioned in the title my (W222 S350d - 2017 - 65k) - Right hand drive) front bottom cushion driver side heated seat is no longer working. The back rest on the same seat is working so just the seat base thats not heating. Switch lights on both side works fine and lights up as normally.

I've had a look under the base but not sure which wires are for the heated seat element, I see two wires with connectors in the center area of the base but I think thats for the sensor to detect someone sitting on the seat.

Anyone had a similar problem to this? Guess its the element in the seat, had a look at the WIS to disassemble the seat cushion looks too involved for me.

I had the same issue years ago, in my W220. Seat heating stopped working on bottom cushion; still heated the backrest. The only solution, according to MB, was to replace the entire bottom cushion. Apparently, there wasn't a separate part just for the heating element. Could be the same for the W222.

Incidentally, my aftermarket warranty at the time did not cover "seats," and even though the problem was clearly electrical, they wouldn't budge. I didn't want to pay several $$$ out of pocket, so I just lived with it. This is one example of how aftermarket warranties are not comparable to a Mercedes Extended Warranty, no matter how "comprehensive" their coverage claims to be.

Sorry to hear... good luck!

Check Seat Setting in COMAND

One more thought... In the W222, there is a setting called "Seat Heating Balance," which allows you to adjust how much heat is delivered to the bottom vs. the back. It is possible to adjust to "3," in which case there would be zero heat delivered to the bottom cushion. So before spending time/money, please double check this!

Good luck!

Ah yeah I can imagine thats what Mercedes will say, I do have an extended warranty with an aftermarket company but like you say I doubt they will cover this.

I can imagine like I will learn to live without this unfortunately

If you're a bit of a DIYer, there are videos on YouTube showing the removal of the front seat bottom and the insertion of the heating element into the seat.

I would imagine you could find a wrecked W222 and pull the seat bottom from that car.

New ones are available as well:

Genuine Mercedes Seat Heater Pad; Front Left Lower | 222906700064

Mercedes S550, S600, S63 AMG, S560, S65 AMG, S450, S550e

Probably a broken wire in the circuit. You could test the circuit for continuity and if broken as suggested remove the cushion and try to repair it.

I personally had customers have their entire seats replaced when the heating/massage functions stopped working on their Mercedes. Not all aftermarket warranties are created equal, and you're really buying the company, not the words on the page. For information on extended warranty coverage from Fidelity and Freedom Warranty who DO cover seat replacement at the Mercedes dealership. You can reach me at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333 if you have any questions.

Many thanks for this information, I couldnt find the heated pad for sale anywhere when I googled, maybe because I'm based in Ireland. I'd gladly pay to have it shipped.

I would chance having a go at this repair myself as I've done some fiddley jobs already with success (Door Handle LED bulb change etc).

I also couldnt find a video of the W222 seat bottom removal and insertion of the heating element, if you located this I'd be most grateful if you could share it please?

Thanks Again

Thank you for your kind offer, but I'm afraid I'm based in Ireland
