Both USBS in center console stopped working tonight.

Means no more apple car play or phone charging. Tried 2 usb cables. Nada. Ports don’t seem worn and how could both stop working at the same time.? Would there be a fuse for the 2 usbs? Everything else seems to work ok. Might mean a trip to the dealer I guess. Maybe a coin dropped down the memory card slot. It’s a bad place for it in front of where I keep change for tolls. I dunno what wrong. I tried resetting the radio in the car by holding down the power button. It rebooted still nothing. Restarted my phone. Might attempt to take apart the center console next. I don’t see any screws though near where the usbs are. There is no power at these usb ports.

I do have an extended mb warranty. I’d think that would cover this issue.

Would that be the fuse panal in the trunk? I think there’s a bunch of them there near the aux battery

I managed to pull out the panel inside the center console, it just lifts up and would come out after disconnecting the connectors although I didn't get that far. I did shake it around and sure enough sounds like there is coin in the plastic box inside which must have slipped down the SD card slot. I would caution other owners if you put coins in that tray there that looks like it's meant to be a coin tray, you may want to put a piece of electrical tape over the slot for the SD card, especially if you don't use is or I suppose if you kept a SD card in there it could not happen. The coin must have shorted out terminals in there and blown a fuse, hopefully that's all it is and not a fried circuit board or something. I'll have to spend more time with it and figure out what is going on. If I can release the connectors with the wires holding that insert in I can put the insert on a table and figure out a way to open it up and get the coin out and see if anything looks short circuited in there. Still no idea where the fuse is that controls those 5 volt USB's.

Coin was not touching anything it dropped down into the plastic box below and I was able to get it out. Still no USB voltage or signal, even a short with such low voltage probably would not do damage. Best I can guess is that the USB jacks connect directly up to the command system so I think it was something that just went out like a transformer in Command and maybe I'll need a whole new radio, not sure yet, going to check the cable that runs between the USB and Command next. I do not believe there is fuse for the USB only, a fuse for command, yes, not usb. The Radio and bluetooth still work fine, just no apple car play at this time.

Bought a used 2019 S65 AMG in July. I have not been able to get the SD or USB ports to work. I also cannot charge my phone using either USB port. My car is a CPO and was at the dealer to have snow tires put on yesterday. They offered to look at the USB issues. They reported that there was power to the cable that feeds the USB and SD ports. So, they’ve ordered the module that contains both ports. I’m not sure of the part number. I have to go back to have it replaced. When I get the warranty service documentation, I’ll post the part number if you’d like.

Sure that would be great if you could post the part number. I think that’s the issue with mine.

Did either of y'all ever get this issue resolved? Facing issues with the 2x USB Ports on my '18 S560.

The ports on mine will "charge" my phone for a second and then stop.... and then repeat that process infinitely. It also does this with the wireless charging pad in the center console.

Part #s, R&R guides for the area, resolutions, other info, etc., are all helpful!

I did get my issue resolved. The dealer replaced the portion of the center console containing the USB ports and the SD card port. That took care of the problem. Fortunately, it was still covered by my CPO warranty so it didn't cost me anything.

Glad it didn't cost you anything! That's a win!

When you say they replaced the portion of the center console, are you referring to the little panel boxed in red below?

Any part # you could find on the service receipt?

I think that's the one. I do not have a part number for it, though. I cannot see anything on the work order that lists a part number.

That's actually an "N" for "NFC" which is, according to Wikipedia, the following
"Near-field communication is a set of communication protocols that enables communication between two electronic devices over a distance of 4 centimetres or less. NFC offers a low-speed connection through a simple setup that can be used for the bootstrapping of capable wireless connections."

I believe it's for transferring data or connecting to it via Bluetooth, but I turn it off in all of our vehicles as every time my iPhone gets close it pulls up Apple Pay instead, which is ran through NFC communication as well.

I think the part is called the usb hub. Both USBs quit in my car and the dealer ordered the piece containing the usb ports and that solved the issue.

Anybody know how to replace the piece boxed in red above? Guessing based upon this thread my issue is likely the piece itself.

It's actually very easy to replace, it simply pulls our the whole tray which has a black plastic box in the side where the ports are located and then you need to unclip the connector which can be tricky and then plug into the new part and slide it back in and press it down. Not sure of the part number through, might vary depending on year.

USB charge ports

I've got a 2015 w222, and my arm rest usb ports are, I believe, worn out, and when i connect charge cords to them they connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect, over and over. I have to move the usb plug in so it sits just right and stays charging. I would like to order a replacement for them but I wonder if there is a USB type C- connector panel that can be changed out instead.

That would be great if we could swap it out for a USB-C panel. Does anybody have one in their car from the factory? I doubt they would create one just for an upgrade.
