Mercedes BEV Fire in Soeul
Did you read about the Mercedes battery-electric car that caught fire in a condo parking garage? "Over 100" cars were damaged.
Will be fascinating to see the legal response. Don't know anything about S. Korean laws and their legal system, but there's a ton of damages here as well as precedents for liability (Mercedes? the battery supplier? others?). I know I'd be mightily pissed if I parked next to it and my car became a blob of molten metal.

No, I missed that "news". I heard a gas-powered Chevy caught fire in Nashville, though:

Gas cars are dangerous.

That's terrible but two entire families were displaced from this recent gas car fire: https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2...-vernon-hills/
Gas cars are catching fire every single day here in America! You have to get news from Korea to find an EV that caught fire.

Don't forget there's at least one transport ship full of new cars sitting on the bottom of the ocean after catching fire and sinking.
I'm mainly interested though in the legal aspects of these car fires and who eats the bill for the damages. Something tells me that's not built into anyone's cost models.

Also don't forget you're all walking around with a lithium-ion battery in your pocket, so please sell your cell phone and go back to a land line, for the safety and security of our communities.

I'm willing to bet the Korea fire was caused by the driver doing something stoopid like hopping a curb and poking a hole in the pack. The cargo ship fire is most likely a manufacturing defect but as with cell phone batteries the odds of that happening are so small it's a waste of time worrying about it.

I heard that as well but I didn't dig into the details either . I can't say that all the electric cars are dangerous and have potential to catch fire but let's not forget some mobile phones had their batteries exploded as well . Still, I feel safer in a modern gasoline powered Mercedes-Benz that's it
