From what I understand (from this great forum!) is that’s it’s not a MB issue but rather Dept of Transportation.
But with this being the case why if I order a S580 Maybach do i get them LOL. I would assume there legal in the US as all S580 maybachs come standard with them
You get them but can't use them. This will be the 4th car I or Mrs Crab have had with advanced lighting features we couldn't use. They're geo-fenced and can actually change capabilities on the fly in this case so obviously it's a matter of enabling them.

I “hear” the new BMW 7 series will be able to have their special lights in USA and other markets because they are completely separate from the main headlights, so the “rules & regulations” for headlights won’t apply. Not sure is this is fact though.
The way I read it anything that acts as a headlight has to follow the rules; including those regarding testing for conformance. There has been quite a bit written about both the old and the new rules in recent years as this has been grinding along. Doesn't take much of a perusal to make that seem implausible.
No, we don't have digital lights here now on the S-Class as far as I can tell. What we have are what came on many other cars, couldn't be enabled, and was selling under other names with different branding and blends of capability. My most recent were the "matrix" lights on my Panamera. In any event I already said above I had the ghetto versions previously and was looking to enable the same when my car gets here. If it comes through someone cracking the MBUX both should be in the same kettle.
I have a 2022 Maybach. It has the Digitals Lights. Most of the described features of the Digital Lights in MB promotion material do not work. As of Feb. 2022 the NHTSA allows "Adaptive Driving Beam Headlights" on new vehicles in the US: https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases...safety-drivers.
other than the on-road symbol projections (for stop signs, wrong way and persons along roadside) which light features are not functional in the US?
cuz i seem to be getting what i believe are all the remaining standard digital light features - high beam 'animates' futher ahead in a box like configuration, side of roadways become brighter, roadway signs became more illuminated, and turn-in side becomes brighter when making turns at intersections and such.
am i missing anything other than the on-road projections mentioned above?
Ordinary lights (can) do the things you describe; matrix lights can keep the high beams on in many cases and will just remove a box around traffic instead of dimming. This is the major benefit but there is more...
In the US we get the active function (lights follow steering movement), corner function, (wide angle beam in the direction of turn), intersection function (same as corner but in both direction for intersections), and automatic dipping. What we don't get with our crappy gimped lights and hope to enable is the highway mode (matrix function which can leave the high beam on in some cases as I first described), advanced fog light functions, (more lighting with reduced glare), bad weather function (same as fog but reduces glare during inclement weather), city light function, (more light in town), and topographical compensation.
Meanwhile, in more civilized countries that have the digital lights, and have them enabled, you get the advanced spotlighting, warnings, and cautions. And of course the fancy light shows which do nothing but are cool.
So depending on where you are you're missing either the super fancy, or if in the US, most of it. The US should get the basic functionality at some point not too far in the future but speaking for myself I'd enable it when my car got here if someone figures it out.
Anyone knows if there is website that lists out all MB types headlights with official nomenclature (ie Digital, Multibeam, Intelligent Light, Active LED...etc) and their associated features/functions?
using a Official MBworld sponsor might be a more forum-supporting option
supporting the forum is important
and 50% cheaper, certified and 100% 5 star rated since ever https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...lights-us.html
I was just about to post if intelligent high beam plus is something that can be added in 2022 w223? Please let me know and I saw it on the RJ site, but if your a member here would rather give you the business
23. (Extra Cost) Intelligent High Beam Plus Activation • Enable the intelligent high beam plus/multibeam lights on your vehicle. See demo video below If you are not sure if this is compatible with your vehicle please get in touch and we will assist. Car must have SA CODE 640
The following features are disabled on American vehicles (See pages 157 – 162, S-Class Maybach Operator’s Manual 2022): Highway mode, Enhanced fog light, Bad weather light, City lighting function, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus (Switching automatically between: Low beam, Partial high beam, High beam, Ultra Range Highbeam.)
Recently, I had an opportunity to drive an S class Maybach in Germany with similar spec. as mine. A profound difference, particularly with the Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus.

I was just talking to BenzNinja about the ILS+ for W223 US, he said its active? If not active, it seems it can be enabled remotely by him. I gotta check when I get into the car later and if not activated I gotta have it done remotely

“He says it’s active?”
I read in another thread him saying:
“there is no W223 solution yet as it requires a echanced certificate to bypass new locking possible, but too expensive for coders for now, it would raise the coding price to a not reasonable price in simple language, it's a new locking system working on it soon, probably by the end of this year”
Unless that’s specific to a certain solution (ILS +) ??

I thought he was talking about the "Digital Light", not the Full LED Adaptive.. I'll confirm now with him as I just took pictures.
Hey Ninja,
I want to clarify, the ecertificate, this is for Digital Light? For the ILS+, for multibeam lights, NOT digital light. You said they can be activated via Mercedes ME. We do not have this ILS+ option in the US for 223 either. Can you activate ILS+ for Code 640 for w223? Below is picture of menu for Headlamps full LED 640, not digital light.
I believe the ILS+ opens a new option under this menu if Im correct? Hopefully he will let us know for the regular adaptive led lamps if this can be added
