I was able to order a 23 back in June. I did look for when the MY23 S Class went into production but never found anything convincing. I'm certain they were in production during the month of August because mine was in the last decade of it. Also certain is that mine was sitting in the VPC in later September. I've noticed my calendar says December.

Where I'm heading here is... Why in hell can you not configure a 23 S-Class on their site? I went to have a look at the upcoming AMG model and noted it wasn't there; that is when I also noted they haven't even updated the configurator for the vanilla S. A quarter of the production year has gone by but a prospective owner can't configure one? Feels like some fail going on with their shopping tools.

It’s well known that MB USA farmed out their web page to Mrs Johnson’s kindergarten class. It’s very embarrassing.

Exactly! How do they expect people to order cars, especially with the new exterior colors/interior options for 23 and not have pics!

So 165 wasn't the final tally then; figures. Should be quite a ride though and you wont see that spec coming and going.

I should be going thru the Panama Canal on Tuesday!

It’s bittersweet but I am excited. I have ordered three Mercedes before and had fun tracking the ships with my kids. I believe this is the first one where the ship did not go to the Maryland and Georgia VPC first before going thru the Panama Canal (it should pass on the 27th).

I still kick myself getting the 21’s. Now I’m reading the posts with issues with the EABC. If I did not lease them I would sell the 21’s and put 20’s on it when it arrives. The dealer is ordering me a full spare and tire as a backup. I had low profile aftermarket Vossen wheels with 21’s on my 17 S63. I cracked a rim and had 3 tires blow. I should have learned my lesson! I also forgot to order Buttronic..

Happy Holidays!

I've got my car in to have a look at the hotspot not being hot and to check the headlight adjustment. If anyone has any input on those two let me know.

Update: They say the headlights are supposed to provide less light than a 1995 Chevy Cavalier with halogens so no fix on that. However... A new software has come out this week for the S Class and was installed; they tell me the hotspot is now working. I'll go get it in the morning and verify it when I get a chance, holiday stuff to deal with first.

Ok, I'm took a pic of the service record in case someone wants to wave it in front of their service advisor. Gonna need to break this one down because there are a few things to unpack...

My car was having intermittent issues with the onboard connection not working and the hotspot was DOA; I brought the car in for it and had them check the headlight adjustment at the same time.

On the headlights being unbelievably bad they ran a system self check which allegedly checks the alignment and found no issues or faults. Evidently Mercedes headlights are supposed to be ridiculously bad.

The onboard connection popped up a note telling the tech to flash a software patch but the patch was for a version of software that was older than what was on my car which was built the 3rd decade Aug 23; this is what they're talking about in the section referencing the note. Their flowchart then directed them to check for a newer software version and install if one exists. Turns out a newer version was available and installed. That fixed the connection and it's working fine. As stated it also fixed the hotspot, I connected my laptop to it and confirmed it is working. The tech said he thought this was supposed to fix the issues with Apple carplay, he didn't elaborate as to why but checked it's functioning and said it worked. I can't verify that one as I don't do Apple.

The unexpected: On the ride home I discovered what is either a new function in the virtual reality display of the HUD or a function that was supposed to be there before but hadn't been working. It pops up red arrows on the side you're changing to if it thinks there is a car in the lane that is too close. I didn't have that in the HUD before, so either new or fixed. Also found working is the streetlight camera. This hasn't worked since the car was new but I didn't mention it because I find it annoying and would have turned it off anyway. Well, it's working now so I have to do a menu dive and figure out how to disable it again because I still find it annoying. It is however nice that it works just for the sake of working.

So... If you're one of the people who have been wanting to get the hotspot working; it appears a fix is available. Same for the traffic light camera. There may be a fix for Carplay troubles, not sure on that one. May also be a new function in the HUD or one I was missing is now working.

Luck in 23 gents!

A bit off topic here but I did not find you mentioning the actual SW release that you got now (perhaps you did on some more relevant thread). Could you check it from the car if it is the same as on the EQS now: RL_NTG7_E329.501_22411AC3?

No, I didn't mention it, the service record doesn't say and if the car tells you I don't know where to look.

Didn't want to post on 4 different threads (bad lighting, no hotspot, traffic light view, carplay, so I posted here; too lazy. Figured most would see it; it's not a very active forum.

The SW version can be found from the settings menu as shown here for an EQS:

Interesting! I've never sen that. Are you talking about the right and left lane markers that change between grey/green/red depending on how the car senses the lanes? Or a "new function" altogether? This is in addition to the ambient light flashing red on either R/L side warning of a car in lane?

Yes, new. Not the lane markers, not the ambient lightning, a new symbol bring projected in the HUD. Either it was not working previously or it's new. It comes on to the left or right of the horizontal line with red arrows flashing from the side on an oblique from under the line up to the outermost end of the line. This occurs if your turn signal is on and the system decides a car is too close in the destination lane.

I saw it several times; Seattle traffic on the freeway is a little tight for the systems taste and I'm not one of those old people that forgot how to use a turn signal.

Edit: I'll scope the SW version the next time in the car.

I just checked it out. I think symbol you're talking about has always been there. As you stated,,,they show up on L/R of horizontal white line,,,in the form of a red triangle with red "waves" emminating to either right or left side.

Crabman, do these updates not come over the air? I just wrote that sentence and realized that your hotspot was not working.

PS. My car should hit the Long Beach VPC on Thursday. I was looking at pics of my 2017 S63. I had a Renntech ECU as well. I am all for new tech and progressive design. However, I still like the dash better on this car…

She's purty; no question.

That I know of my rear tablet was flashing at one point and it turned out it had downloaded an Android update and was asking for install permission. I also had a toast pop up in the usual location at the top of the console screen saying my maps had updated. If any other updates came in, it was without my noticing.

Looking vicariously at the update process, I don't think this car will ever get a full system update over the air. My car has two systems, front and rear, and each needs to be installed together or neither will work. That was 5 hours of install time between them. An unexpected interruption with either could be fatal, it's unusual, but the tech tells me it happens on occasion.

A note for other new exec owners: The car can't be flashed, front or rear, without the tablet in place. You'll want to have it in the car when you take it in so if they do decide to update the system software, they can.
