A seldom discussed feature of the car is buttronic; helps you find the car in a lot.

Thanks y'all that is super helpful—I'll plan to schedule my recall service the same day that my rep is in and make a "surprise" visit to ask him if I can see the order and confirm if there is an allocation or not. I'll call around in the meantime to see if other dealers have any allocation. I've read that other dealers can request allocations from other dealers as well which sounds interesting..

Hi Simba,
My 580e is being shipped Dec. 13 but I still can't seem to get the MSRP info. (They blame Netstar)
Have you seen firm pricing information yet?
Thanks,
SQBill

Yeah, whether or not you enjoy a manual dive, it's pretty helpful to at least give it a brief perusal with all the tech features on this car.

I have an update on my car if it helps anyone (23 580 with a Manufaktur interior was supposed to be built in the last decade of August). My salesperson called the factory as my car was finally supposed to be built by today. However, the VIN was still not showing. He was told the system is still not updating VIN numbers, but it has been built. Apparently, now I am waiting for a "software update."

Excellent! Took mine a wee bit less than a month to get from Bremerhaven to Cali; you still might make Xmas. Gotta wonder what software update is or means? However it is with that it's built so the clock is ticking.

Merc SUV GLE
trying to buy 2023 SUV GLE

Hello, this is a very useful forum and am glad to have found it. I am in the Boston, MA area. I've loved every MB I've owned (3 over a period of 20 years) and am now in the process of ordering a 2023 SUV. It is a very different ordering experience now as dealers seem fairly powerless to help move your factory order along, and are at the mercy of the factory. What is the experience of members with new factory orders i terms of how long it has taken on the outside? I see that Crabman's car took about 5 months from date of order? If anyone has any current wisdom onsupply chain issues and chip shortages that they'd care to share it would be much appreciated! We have been told that some orders are taking up to 12 months to factory build and ship. I assume the GLE is still made in Alabama, but one year is a bit much. Maybe we need to look at a BMW SUV, they've told us we could have a '23 by the end of December...

I specifically ordered a 23, there were a couple 22 allocations I could have taken that would have arrived somewhat sooner. Figure going to a 23 added more or less a month on the order side. On the built side my car also sat for weeks waiting for pricing.

One other factor is the VPC, mine came to the West Coast which adds a couple weeks of transit time versus one going to the East Coast.

Thanks for the info! In the past it has taken 4-6 weeks from the port to the VPC. I don’t know why a software update would hold things up. I would rather wait and get the most up to date car though.

Even my craptacular picture taking skills can't hide the shiny after ceramic coating. I went 95% correction on the paint; hard to find any fault with the job they did there. You all know the obsidian is not a showy metallic and while this does give it slightly more pop, it's not much, just so as you can notice. I think the important thing here is I promised to get a better pick and despite my glaring lack of skills this obligation is now met.

Hey @crabman your car looks great! Looks like we have the same taste :-) BTW....did you see any clear coat swirl scratches on your car when it arrived? I have a lot on my truck lid, which I believe was when the VPC or the dealership ran it through a car wash. So I will need to do the same as you and have it paint corrected. What do they charge out your way for paint correction?

Here's a pic of my car when it arrived last month.

Obvious bias aside; nice looking ride you have there!

By and large my paint was good but there was a fair bit of swirling all over and some deeper scratches on the downturn of the trunk lid and the creases on the hood. Most of the former easily buffed out but the latter required more work.

I went 2400 out the door which includes a sales tax of roughly 9 percent. They worked on the correction for several extra hours. Here they go to 80 percent on new paint in as new condition as a built in cost in the ceramic coating pricing. If you want more or the car has paint issues they do custom pricing based on the labor involved. Seattle is a relatively expensive area, costs might be somewhat less elsewhere?

You know how black is with showing flaws so I paid the extra to get a better result.

$2,400 for the correction including the coating is pretty typical. I got out of the detailing business at the wrong time lol

Good to know, A quick search said it was ballpark but a little on the pricey side. These guys have a good rep though and this is my third car with them because of the rep. Feels like a bad place to scrimp?

Speaking of scrimping, I finally remembered to take my umbrella out to the car to put in the umbrella holder and that's when I figured out the car doesn't have an umbrella holder. Bastids!

In other news there was some flashing going on with my rear tablet which ended up being it wanting me to ok an android update. When selecting the bullet that said click here to see what is in the update it informed me the update may contain security updates or other enhancements. Because that explains everything... O_o In any event if you have a rear tablet there is an update. Which does something.

Last; the mats showed up today. Much more luxurious than the stock mats and should work in the Pacific Northwest with their vinyl backing and ability to hold a modest amount of water in the carpet itself. Don't really do snow much int his area. Obligatory picture enclosed.

Crabman, it is so kind of you to ask! It did not hit the water until Friday. I will be happy if I get it by mid Jan. I did order some outrageously expensive but fancy pillows for the back seat that arrived today as I was pouting.

I did think I was going to be able to brag about getting one of the first 580’s with the Manufaktur interior. Then I saw this bad boy online this weekend. My exact spec except with the night package and 20’s. Crap, I should have gotten the 20’s! I am fully expecting all
four tires to explode on the way home.

You appear to be the first one here, so that's something! Going to be sharp, no question in my mind about that. Looks like you went flowing lines on the trim, or at least I think that's what I'm seeing there; no brainer with the interior color I suppose. Or were you required to get it? Manufaktur was showing in their system when I ordered but it couldn't be selected so I never saw if there were restrictions. Not sure I would have ordered even if I could have; I love the white but don't do well with it; grandkids and all that. Plus I went well over my cost estimate with Mrs Crab as it was; throw Manufacktur in and I would have been in that much more hot water!

The 21s.... You can always throw some wheels on and sell those or remount them and sell the wheels you bought when you move on to the next thing. Or be unrelentingly vigilant; if you're into that kind of thing. I've done it before and it wasn't so bad once the costs were partially recouped. Outside of road hazards enough people have gone there now that improved ride seems to be well shown so you'd gain that as well.

In any event the clock is ticking hard now and the VPCs have been moving these out without delay so once it gets across the pond you should be on the road fair quick.

I am typically not so much a gray fan, but that is a gorgeous spec. And that interior! Very beautiful, can’t wait for yours to arrive.

I was a bit curious as to how it ended up being used with 16 miles on it? Bit of a story there considering it probably showed up with something like 10 miles on the odo.
