It is. According to the sales person that could be one of the reasons why it is being delayed for shipping, because it is what he calls the most optioned car you could get. although I decided to pass on the, little too busy for me Piano Black lines trim. I'll post pictures when it gets here.

The amount of options don't affect the shipping time unless the car is missing something and on hold to get it before shipment. As near as I can determine there are no holds at the factory, lots with more cars than usual waiting to ship, etc. Or at least I can't find evidence of this in a search. I'm wondering if you need to get higher up the chain to find out what is happening with your car?

That's exactly what I told him. then he said he didn't know for sure but was just speculating as to why. According to him some cars with lesser options, ordered after mine for dealer stock have already been delivered.
I have talked to the sales and inventory manager as well, and both of them are sticking to the same story, that the car is at port awaiting shipment. I don't know, if MB-USA has a corporate shipping department, where they can provide more precise information.

The options are meaningless in terms of shipping and other cars are clearly being loaded in front of it. Go to thread I'm going to link and ask there what the status of your car is at this time. There is a guy there that will look on Netstar and tell you what the status is and if there is a port hold.

Edit: Not calling your dealer out, you're just verifying the information as a first step. Once you know they're on the up and up you can take the next step. I have no idea what that is but someone may jump in with helpful information. There were 1300 car carriers porting in Bremerhaven last year or more than 3 arrivals/departures per day. There are 6 there today as I type this post. MB has one on the 5th, the 8th, etc. Feels like something isn't right with two months at the port.

@crabman Thank you very much for your extremely helpful and knowledgeable input.
I just got back from the dealership after spending an hour and a half there, and after talking to 3 people, one of them told me, that car was not even showing as built yet. LOL! The second one, the old story about pending shipment and then finally after another slightly heated exchange they brought in some guy, who apparently accessed a different system that showed the car had arrived in New Jersey 2 days ago. While the system was not giving him an exact delivery date, he said it usually take between 10 to 15 days between the car getting to New Jersey and getting shipped to Houston. So hopefully the car will be here by the end of this month.

No worries, glad you got it sorted out and I'm looking forward to the pictures! The dealership... It sounds like scumbaggery may have gone down but the benefit of the doubt lies in your discretion in regards to any warning you may want to post for fellow Houstonians.

One odd thing in this story - VPC for Texas is Brunswick, GA. Was he saying that the ship was in NJ port? I am hoping that's the case because cars bound for Texas are not unloaded in NJ.

So I came up with the idea to sign up for Mercedes Me and use that to track the car. Seemed like a long shot considering the rather obvious security issues but you never know... Or then again, now I do; you have to enter a QR code in the car to enable it. Curses! Foiled again!
While I was on the Mercedes Me site I decided to click around and the accessories store actually has a few items in it; there were none roughly a month ago when I last checked.
I was looking at boats heading to Long Beach from Bremerhaven: Next sailing is 19 Sept with an ETA of 17 October. Miss that one and it's 7 Oct arriving on 4 Nov. That's if it goes Wallenius and Wilhelmsen.

Received the PO yesterday as my order went into production. The only option deleted was the trunk release.

My dealer already has 23s at the VPC in this status; they're saying they expect the MSRP to publish between the mid to the end of September. I see you got the hands free discontinued line item also; I didn't actually see it as a feature when I was ordering mine but I'll take the credit for it just the same. Curious what date you ordered, manufacturer was not available when I ordered mine. It was visible in the system but it didn't allow us to select it. That was back toward May I think?

@crabman My S500 arrived at Brunswick 3 weeks ago and I can not get any status from my dealer. He keeps telling me his MB system is down (for 2 weeks) which seems a little fishy a system/application would be down for so long. I am guessing that my car has not been released due to the MSRP not being published yet. My concern is the same as others and that being my car will have been outside unprotected for over a month. If you hear anything concrete about release dates please let me know...Thanks!

They will be released in the days following the official publication of the MSRP is what I'm being told. I know about the boats because I have a tangential relationship with that industry. The car side is just me researching and what the dealership is telling me so take that portion with a grain of salt. I've also ordered quite a few cars, you pick up a few things.
As to that latter point, cars often sit outdoors for months whether ordered or not. You've got the wait at the factory, wait at the port, wait after unload in a different port, wait at the processing center, and the ride on the truck. Possibly at the dealer. I know you don't want your baby sitting there, I don't like it myself. It's part of the process though, luck can make it fairly minimal but most cars spend more days outdoors than most of us would like before reaching us. Nothing a good correction won't fix.

@crabman Thanks so much for your quick reply! This is my first S Class and something I have waited and dreamed about having since I was a young man. I know you're right about the cars being outside for many days, but I was just hoping to limit those days once my car landed in the US. I'm sure everything will be fine and I'm worrying for nothing. All part of the same process as near as I can tell. My reading has led me to infer that what happens is they use the MSRP release as a control, that and the release date coincides with them having enough time to sticker the cars and get them moving. But I'm always happy to learn more if you're aware of something concrete. This one didn't lead to definitive answers in my searches.
