It's tough, not going to deny it. Over in Porsche land some of those guys got stuck waiting with cars on the ground here for more than a year after the VAG emissions debacle. That looked like no fun, at least we don't have that going on.

Stuck in Baltimore

My S560 has been sitting at the VPC in Baltimore for two weeks. Does anyone know when the 2023’s will be released? Why the hold-up?

@Congchi My S500 has been stuck at the Brunswick VPC since late August. I have been told all 2023's coming in from Europe have not been priced yet and they are waiting for the Monroney sticker/label. My salesman also told me on Saturday that MB is waiting on approved EPA mileage numbers so they can update the Monroney sticker. I honestly don't know what to believe. FYI...I tried to call MB customer service multiple times and they were not helpful at all.

It's not the EPA; you can go to their site and see that the S class has it's certification for the 23 model year. This did not need to be updated as no emissions sensitive equipment or controls were changed.

Thanks @crabman I looked on the EPA site to and thought I read the same thing as you, but I wasn't sure if I was looking at the correct info. Thanks for clarifying.

@Congchi As I was typing this comment my salesman called and said my car just got picked up at the VPC and I should be seeing it any day now So, hopefully that is good news for you! Looks like the 2023's are starting to leave the VPC.

Yeah, it's a huge site. I think the easiest way is to use the search tool for certifications. There you will only find cars that are certified rather than not certified or pending certification. That way if you see your car, it's a yes.

But, damn, good news on your car! You may be the first to get your 23 on the forum, let us know if you see anything interesting. The matrix lighting being enabled comes to mind; rumor has it may be with the 23 model year.

Thanks all for the intelligence on the release of the 2023 S-Class. My salesman has not been helpful in providing status reports. It sounds as if the logjam has broken. I always look on the dark side of things and started thinking a significant refit was needed before release could be made.

If something is on constraint, keep checking in, most items will come off constraint before your order locks. I think you're the first on this thread to go with the E, you shall have to tell us if something interesting should come up. The options apply to both equally and there are many threads if you're questioning one of them specifically.

S580e - I have the car ordered with all options - AMG. not Executive. I've been given a production date of the second week in December.
I'm hoping the battery does not take away any trunk space. I'll lose enough with the 811 Burmester radio.
I'm particularly intrigued by the 878 Ambience Lighting Connected Light ... $790.
I am installing a Charge Point charger.
I drove the EQS and decided this was a better vehicle for me at this point in time.
I have not received the MSRP for the 580e yet.

Im sorry but the battery does unfortunately eat A LOT of trunk space. Same trunk space as you find in a VW Polo - 350 liters.

Im a little concerned since my my wife and our two kids barely fits in our current w204 C63 Wagon nor does we in our Skoda Octavia Estate.... No she does not know these facts.. yet..

I ordered a S580e Long. Black on black (considered silver for a long time). AMG pack, 20 inch rims (heard a lot of bad things about the beautiful 21" - both ride quality and comfort but also punctures. Not sure if it is a temporary problem, but I did not dare). Premium plus pack since its just around a 1000 dollars for a lot of things. Missing out of the LCD-ambient lightning unfortunately. It's simply not available in our market at the time. I heard rumors it will be back for 2023 tho. Got the back seat pack (the cheap one), sun protection, fire extinguisher (God help me if the battery catches fire), tintet windows. The car costs me around 250.000 dollars including taxes. Completely insane. I read more bad things about this car than any other Mercedes or car in generel on this forum. I hope it's do to S-class costumes being more picky and use to the best of the best but im worried. It was just too good of an offer to pass. Same price as a very nice spec E-class with diesel or gasoline engine do to crazy taxes here in Denmark.

Plz let me know what you try to decide between building your dream Mercedes

I have looked directly down into a truck of a S400d and a S580e, both long wheelbase. I did not measure in any quantifying way but eyeballing I tell you there is a difference. S580e have a much higher floor in the boot. Opening is the same, but it did not look as deep.

You're correct, the floor is significantly higher and the trunk is much smaller; the difference can be seen in many review videos. I think the depth is the same but maybe I'm mistaken.

Edit... The ambient lightning is available to order now for 23 in the US but you have to ask for it, it isn't shown in the configurator. It had not been available in 22 but showed up anyways on random cars with an upcharge when it did make it into the build.

The trunk depth depends on other options, not the hybrid battery.

Check out every review on the E model, the trunk floor is elevated; it is not a small difference, it's a "holy crap that's a lot smaller" difference. The capacity goes from 550L to 330L; some sites incorrectly quoted the difference as 550 going down to 530L which may be what is confusing some people. This is probably coming from the S class getting 20L more capacity than it's predecessor which was 530.

2023 EQS 580 Sedan ordered

I ordered a 2023 EQS 580 Sedan at the end of June 2022 from a dealer in Richmond, VA. As of today (4 months later), the car was built, shipped to Baltimore, MD, and entered the VPC on October 1st. It has still not been released by MB to the dealer. Has anyone ordered a 2023 EQS 580 Sedan and taken delivery?

Still stuck in Baltimore

My car is still stuck at VPC in Baltimore. I was encouraged by Ebanger’s post above on 10/14, but movement of cars from the VPC seems to be on hold again. My salesman says nobody at MB HQ is explaining the freeze on delivery. Frustrated.

'23 S580 Manufaktur and '21 GLE 53 Coupe (Past MBZ: 2020 GT63, S65, S63, E55, CL65, S550, C32)
My S580 was ordered in June and slated for the last decade in August. As of a week ago I don’t have a VIN yet. My guess is it’s the Manufaktor interior holding it up. I don’t want to give up the GT63 so I’m not pushing to get timing. I would like the car though.

I can’t understand how a company can have a lot of finished goods (autos) sitting in a lot collecting dust, with customers waiting to write a checks. Seems like a poor business model. I think the delay is due to lack of pricing which, again is poor management. I’m thisclose to scraping my MB plan and moving on to another manufacturer.
