The Best of Mercedes & AMG

This has happened a couple of times on the 223. The main example is the active ambient lighting. It’s not orderable but they put it on every car they can, so if you specifically didn’t want it, you’re stuck laying $790 for it.
Also the rear interior assist on 2022 models which adds gestures and Bluetooth speakers in the rear. It popped up on well equipped luxury or AMG line cars, example those with 4D audio or e-abc. Wasn’t orderable but was an extra $350 charge whether you wanted it or not.
The rear seat entertainment is actually a pretty cool piece of kit given that it runs native MBUX and is super responsive, so if you can stomach the $2,990, I’d take it and try to enjoy it. But it’s odd that they just added it to random cars. And without wireless headphones. Only the executive line gets that and the rear energizing comfort. For an extra $410.

It's interesting to see how things like this change over time. As an example going back to the ambient lighting when I ordered the car it couldn't be selected and the dealership told me depending on availablility it would either be in or out and it had been that way for quite a while. As I had ordered the car exclusive leather and 4D were not available but they both became available during the wait for production. It was during that period the ambient light became a selectable option and I added it in as well.
To go the other way I did order the executive but had been told there would be no rear entertainment option and a credit for it but during the build process it just showed up without my intervention and stayed there all along, eventually making it onto the actual car in the real world. The dealership had told me not to hold my breath about seeing it on said real world car.

Absolutely love the EABC and the 4D sound system. Both systems are revelations after the 2020 750i x drive that I traded in, which was more torquey beyond question, but lacked the handling capabilities of the EABC even with after market 21 inch wheels.
Talked to the service manager about adding the the Renntech tune through the dealership so as not to adversely effect the warranty. he is supposed to let me know Monday, if that is a possibility or not.
Will keep you gentlemen updated.
No, I'm not Mr funbuster. I have done a lot of mods and met these guys twice. I've also pursued a Moss/Mag litigation to its end. A large portion of what you read on the Internet about car warranty is pure BS; don't believe it. Do have fun, just be aware that the dealership is not in possession of your warranty. If that rep denies power-train coverage there are few of us that will be good enough customers to see the dealership pick up the pieces even if they actually sell you the tune.
Enough of that. Glad your on the road. Strange deal with the rear entertainment, I'm curious to see if it actually shows up on the non executive cars. Not sure how that could work without the rear screens, would make the HDMI and rear screen sharing kinda hard to use...
Agreed about the tuner, unless the dealer absolutely guarantees the install and warranty, I'm not going to get it. Already told the sales manager to put me down as first priority on the waiting list for the S63 AMG, when it becomes available. According to him, if I don't put too many miles , which I don't (less than 6k miles per year) he will give me a preferred customer deal, because of my long history with AutoNation dealer ships.
Let's see what he comes up with, he's pretty sure they should be here by the middle of next year.

Sadly my car has been at the port for almost 2 months now too
