My salesman told me today that the pricing is now scheduled to release in Q4. At least it's now officially releasing in Q4 rather than just presumptively releasing in Q4. So that's something, right?

Did anyone order a luxury or AMG line with the rear seat entertainment? I’ve been seeing build sheets for those models with rear seat entertainment as a standalone $2,990 option, not part of the $3,400 package that the executive model has.

Unless it's changed recently, it isn't a possible configuration in the US, I tried when I ordered.

My boat has transited the canal and is now in the Pacific, looking like 3 Oct to arrive at the Long Beach VPC. From there it's a matter of MB releasing the 23 cars for sale. Still haven't found anything more accurate than Q4 buzzing around the web.

Apparently, mine just docked in Brunswick GA this morning. The salesman blamed the system upgrade for the misinformation about it arriving over 2 weeks ago. If this keeps up, this is my one and done with Mercedes. I'll go back to BMW, never had the slightest problem with them since 2006.

I'm kinda wondering why they hold the new model year cars so long; they're not as bad as Porsche can be but it's annoying to me nevertheless. I guess like you, I'll vote with my wallet 3 years from now.

@BenjaminKohl I ordered a luxury S500 and for some reason the standalone option was added to my build without me asking for it. My salesman says he has no idea how it happened. I did order the 4D Burmester, so maybe the factory added the rear entertainment was linked to the 4D. My salesman says I can either pay for the addition or not take the car. Needless to say I was not happy :-(. Also, I am still waiting for my car and have not ETA for it even though it has been at the VPC for over a month.

yeah, my guess is it’s randomly being added to cars. Maybe oversupply or something. I don’t think it’s linked to a particular option, because I’ve seen a bunch of low spec cars with it too.

This has happened a couple of times on the 223. The main example is the active ambient lighting. It’s not orderable but they put it on every car they can, so if you specifically didn’t want it, you’re stuck laying $790 for it.

Also the rear interior assist on 2022 models which adds gestures and Bluetooth speakers in the rear. It popped up on well equipped luxury or AMG line cars, example those with 4D audio or e-abc. Wasn’t orderable but was an extra $350 charge whether you wanted it or not.

The rear seat entertainment is actually a pretty cool piece of kit given that it runs native MBUX and is super responsive, so if you can stomach the $2,990, I’d take it and try to enjoy it. But it’s odd that they just added it to random cars. And without wireless headphones. Only the executive line gets that and the rear energizing comfort. For an extra $410.

@Spicy I'm getting the same runaround from my salesman. He told me the Netstar system has been down or corrupted for weeks. So far my Mercedes buying experience has been horrendous. Like you, my BWM buying experience was awesome. I knew where my 540i was at all times and they delivered my car 3 days after it arrived in Baltimore, which was 3 days earlier that expected. My S500 car has been in the Brunswick port for over a month now and I have no clue when it will arrive. I'm about to cancel the deal since I get zero information out of the dealership. They seem absolutely unconcerned about me or my car just sitting there.

Thanks @BenjaminKohl They did add the ambient lighting feature to my build too. Unfortunately my kids are all grown and there will be no-one to enjoy the rear entertainment. I saw an Add Sale Program to vehicle in Netstar and I was hoping they might credit me for the addition, but that is probably wishful thinking.

The dealer likely has no new information to give you. Reaching the port is one of the final steps of bringing your car to them, and with 23's not having been released yet you won't likely receive any more information until the release has taken effect. Once the release of 23's has commenced then the process will start again as they will wait for your car to be ready for transport and brought to the dealer.

About that ambient lighting, it became available to select after I ordered my car, in other words was manually selectable in the system. That I did. Odd about the rear entertainment. My salesman let me belly up to the screen with him and we tried many combinations of configuring the car because I wanted some parts of executive but not others. You most def couldn't select rear entertainment without the associated package that includes the HDMI ports and something else, forget what the third thing was in that package. The package itself couldn't be selected without executive. But... I guess that was then.

It's interesting to see how things like this change over time. As an example going back to the ambient lighting when I ordered the car it couldn't be selected and the dealership told me depending on availablility it would either be in or out and it had been that way for quite a while. As I had ordered the car exclusive leather and 4D were not available but they both became available during the wait for production. It was during that period the ambient light became a selectable option and I added it in as well.

To go the other way I did order the executive but had been told there would be no rear entertainment option and a credit for it but during the build process it just showed up without my intervention and stayed there all along, eventually making it onto the actual car in the real world. The dealership had told me not to hold my breath about seeing it on said real world car.

@js_cls @Spicy Just got a call from the sales manager. Sadly, my salesman unexpectedly passed away over the weekend. Now I feel horrible for complaining about the lack of responsiveness. I had no idea he was ill and from what the sales manager said, the dealership didn't know either. This is another life lesson that I have sadly learned. You never know what someone might be going through, and that we are all people just trying to make a living. If I had any inkling that my salesman was ill I would never have complained or posted negative posts on this forum. It really does put things in perspective. I was more worried about my car and not the person. This life lesson really shows us all how nothing is never as it seems.

Anyone hearing any news on when these things are going to be released? My dealership says they don't have a clue other than 4th quarter. My car is a day out from the Long Beach VPC and I'm getting antsy.

Finally picked up my car today at the dealer. It was missing the the rear seat entertainment package, slightly disappointed but, am glad this ordeal is over.
Absolutely love the EABC and the 4D sound system. Both systems are revelations after the 2020 750i x drive that I traded in, which was more torquey beyond question, but lacked the handling capabilities of the EABC even with after market 21 inch wheels.
Talked to the service manager about adding the the Renntech tune through the dealership so as not to adversely effect the warranty. he is supposed to let me know Monday, if that is a possibility or not.
Will keep you gentlemen updated.

There is no warranty protection with the dealer as far as tunes go; if you have a major failure they cannot authorize a repair and have to call in a regional rep. That person is there to guard the gates and they absolutely will not let a tune slide. Without the ok from that rep your dealership can't be reimbursed for labor or parts. They may not even be able to order parts on their own dime even if they wanted to drop the ching.

No, I'm not Mr funbuster. I have done a lot of mods and met these guys twice. I've also pursued a Moss/Mag litigation to its end. A large portion of what you read on the Internet about car warranty is pure BS; don't believe it. Do have fun, just be aware that the dealership is not in possession of your warranty. If that rep denies power-train coverage there are few of us that will be good enough customers to see the dealership pick up the pieces even if they actually sell you the tune.

Enough of that. Glad your on the road. Strange deal with the rear entertainment, I'm curious to see if it actually shows up on the non executive cars. Not sure how that could work without the rear screens, would make the HDMI and rear screen sharing kinda hard to use...

The funny thing is they charged me $350 for that stupid useless tablet in the rear armrest, when the the dual tablets o the seats were supposed to come with the Executive line.
Agreed about the tuner, unless the dealer absolutely guarantees the install and warranty, I'm not going to get it. Already told the sales manager to put me down as first priority on the waiting list for the S63 AMG, when it becomes available. According to him, if I don't put too many miles , which I don't (less than 6k miles per year) he will give me a preferred customer deal, because of my long history with AutoNation dealer ships.
Let's see what he comes up with, he's pretty sure they should be here by the middle of next year.

Sounds good. Don't know what to say about the entertainment package; I guess we'll see if we can divine some reason for the changes there as more cars show up. Other than that inexplicable bit of weirdness; all is well?
