I can’t understand how a company can have a lot of finished goods (autos) sitting in a lot collecting dust, with customers waiting to write a checks. Seems like a poor business model. I think the delay is due to lack of pricing which, again is poor management. I’m thisclose to scraping my MB plan and moving on to another manufacturer.

So, Cincy is saying pricing on the 500 has been released into the system and those cars are shipping. Those who went 580 are still needing to keep the liquor stocked.

The unusual part to me is the cars sitting at the VPC and collecting dust for no apparent reason with no answers as to the why. I haven't encountered that one before now. I've gotten them sooner, later, had them sit with a reason. But just randomly sitting, nope, that be new to me.

Thanks, SW20S. No, I haven’t ordered at the beginning of a model year. My beef is that there should be some plan for release that is given to customers so that they can plan. I see no reason to keep release date a secret. Everyone knows the 2023 model is coming, so the value of the 2022 model is dropping every day—no mystery here.

Yeah, pretty much all of them. I like getting the car before it's model year starts; gives me more time in the current new car model year. 
As I said, I've got them later than this time of year, and I've got them earlier, one as early as August. I've had them held, one for what was called a quality audit, and one for damage during transport. What's never happened is that the car be built, shipped, and then sit at the VPC in limbo. The normal scenario is once your car gets into the production queue the clock ticks somewhat regularly and the car does not sit at the VPC for no particular reason when it gets here. If it does go into a hold I've been told why, it's for reason "X"

Well... The pricing more than met my expectations, although the pricing isn't fully implemented into the system. Mine is an executive and all those options within the package are broken down into separate options and priced per option, there is no actual price for the executive package available within the system yet. It's looking like some 7k more than a 22 as near as I can figure out while the build sheet they sent me shows almost 13k more. No one seems to think that can be correct, but we don't know until it gets wholesaled to the dealership. Mine will be among the first group of 23 S580s coming to the Seattle area.

I’ve ordered a Luxury Line car. The build sheet shows a base price of $124,000, up from $117,700 for the 2022 model. I’m curious about your reference to a “wholesaled” price. What is that, and how does it relate to MSRP? I still have to negotiate pricing with the dealership.

The car is said to be wholesaled to the dealership when they get the invoice information into their system for the specific car and that includes the Mulroney/actual stated MSRP. They can't see that in the system now and have no previous 23 cars from which to get the information. That invoice price you can get from various websites isn't actually the cost to the dealership or the real invoice, the real invoicing goes to ownership and is under non-disclosure; it's said only the owner and his accountants really know what a dealership is making on new car sales.

Yeah, though mine is cookie-cutter S-Class; yours will be a bit special with that interior. I considered the Manufacktur but the one I really like is the white interior with which I've had poor luck elsewhere. So... I do feel some regret about chickening out with it but glad I'm almost done waiting. I'd be getting impatient if I were in your shoes; I hope it gets queued for production soon!

Summary of changes for 2023
Aloha all! Just secured a 580 that is built and in the port in Germany to go through the Baltimore VPC. I have been trying to nail down what has changed between 2022 and 2023! This will be my 5th S-class since 2008 (S63, S550s and S65). Hoping everyone gets their cars soon now that pricing is finally loaded in the system and if anyone has info on “what’s new” please share

My dealer is claiming the matrix function for the headlights may be enabled. They don't say this with any conviction; it's more as if someone thought it through and decided it was possible. The 500s shipped first and a forum member right here on this thread is expecting his son and should have the first news we get.

You might be right - surprised because currency changes worked in the favor of US. But supply chain issues and global inflation pushing the other way.
I am hoping to make some of it up through dealer discount (once they get wholesale pricing). This is my 10+ car from this dealer

Mine should be ready for delivery on Saturday but I'm going to pick it up Monday morning; I'm promised to Mrs Krab for Saturday. She doesn't take well to being set aside for cars; I've proven that and then verified it again just to make sure my previous data was correct. O_o
