Augmented Reality Navigation works in my Hudless Car
Augmented reality navigation works in my hudless car. It comes up in the center screen, but it’s there nonetheless. I assumed we needed a special camera and/or HUD option for it work.
Does it work for everyone?

Augmented reality navigation is supported by the centre display even on our W213. It is different from the AR HUD though as the arrows on the HUD appear at the correct distance, closer when e.g. the turn gets closer.

Augmented reality in the screen is standard on every S Class. The HUD Augmented Reality is in addition to that, on cars with that equipment.

The centre display is a 2D display, even in the 3D mode every object appears at the same distance (on the screen glass). The AR HUD view is a true 3D view. The 3D cluster is similar but the depth of the AR HUD view is way larger.

Yeah, in use there is no comparison between the AR HUD cues and the center stack: Some say that the cues in the HUD are seen directly over the road you're supposed to turn on. It's actually shown that way in some of their videos but that isn't really the reality. It does work that way at times but only if the road you're going to turn on ends up being in the viewable area of the HUD so as to place the turn indication over the road you're turning on. Still, it's all brought out there in front of you and that makes it far easier to parse out what you're doing because you aren't swapping your views from the center stack to the real world and trying to find matching roads. The AR nav cues are truly excellent and make it difficult to miss a turn once you figure out the way they work.
My co-pilot tells me she doesn't like the pop-up view in the infotainment screen because it blocks the map and she finds it's harder to define the turn with it than without. I'm HUD all the way, I hardly look at the other displays.
