I see, thanks for your reply, their offerings got my attention like the new inline-6 in the CX90 for example. Their other vehicles certainly seems better built and designed than the other Japanese competitors.

Anyways, OP, another example of MB changing things for the sake of changing things (on top of the flushed door handles), they removed the aux battery from the W223? MBUSA explains what is an auxiliary battery and what it does for example: https://mbparts.mbusa.com/mercedes-c...ry-malfunction
Apparently it is supposed to be a "backup" in case the 12V battery fails, I guess they thought the 48V battery will be able to prevent everything from completely shutting down, or am I missing something?

Thank you, hopefully it doesn't happen anymore but I still kept the trickle charger just in case.

You shouldn't have to have a trickle charger on a vehicle this new but better safe than sorry I guess

I chose better safe than sorry given that my car kept sending me low battery notification last week.

Today is Day Number 30! It was 30 days ago that my 2022 S580 was towed into Fletcher Jones after it stranded me. After inquiring yesterday, I was told that the new “DC-DC Converter” had been installed and that the shop foreman would drive the car “40 to 60 miles” to make sure the car was operating properly. Seriously? Anyway, they say I will “probably” get the car back this afternoon. Meanwhile, MBUSA is “investigating” to see if my car “qualifies” for a repurchase. I can answer that question right now: Under California’s Lemon Law, it absolutely qualifies. I just hope that the car is drivable, while I wait to get a new car, whatever that may be. If I am rushed, I’ll probably go Genesis. If I have time, I may order a new S500. Or, should something interesting show up used, I may go for a temporary ride, while I wait for the face lift W223. Decisions, decisions!

Out with the old and in with the new, hopefully you get a car that you will truly enjoy as much as your R231 SL this time, best of luck!
I understand you really enjoy your MBs, sans this one that put a sour taste in your mouth, hopefully your experience is better on the next car after going through all that!

I don't recall, have you driven either the current G90 (I know you did for the previous version) or the S500 for an extended test drive, say over a weekend? As you have clearly hit the California lemon limit (been there, done that) it's time for some test drives

not sure for the S 500 though, OP may I ask why are you considering a W223 again, I am pretty sure you explained it but I either missed it or forgot, apart from the issues you had, features wise you didn't like the screens, the capacitive stuff if I recalled correctly?

nevermind answering my own question: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post8549254

So OP, unless I am missing something why put yourself in that "suffering" again by getting yet another W223?

I think Stream loves the drama, and he’s good at it. He is our unofficial spokesperson and keeps MB on its toes.

Please get the new S500 so we can continue ironing out the wrinkles in the W223 😂😂

I mean he does, and he did say exactly that plus treat it as a hobby, healthy or not.

Well, OP whatever W223 you get, hopefully you will be happy with it instead of frustrated with it again.

I can guarantee you that Stream will be frustrated. That’s how he stays happy. He will probably love most aspects of the car but will hone in on the flaws (my guess is the door handles, the reflections off the windscreen, the tires, the central tablet, how diluted the mb brand is becoming, the central storage compartment etc etc etc). I can keep on going!!

Thats the entire point is you can’t have a hobby and be happy if there’s no hobby to have. Keep it up Stream, you are our advocate!!

I drove a 2021 S500 but only a short test drive. Same with a 2023 G90. I’m an old guy and I know that my driving skills are not what they used to be. So, sticking with a brand I know, sounds better than jumping into a new brand where everything is different. The only non-MB vehicle I’ve had since 2012 has been a Ford Transit van, which is a very simple vehicle. Other than the van, my last 10 cars have been MB, since 2012. My preference is to stay with the brand, but ONLY if MB makes it worth my while. I’m not biting off another expensive lease, with substantially increased MSRP over my 2022 without a little “incentive” coming my way. Stay tuned……..

I’m hoping door handle software will be improved in a 2024. I’m over the reflections. I’ll most definitely change the tires. I’m OK with the tablet. Yes, the brand has been diluted. My next W223 will not have rear seat climate, so looking forward to a deep storage compartment. As I said before, probably better the devil I know than one I don’t, but we’ll see.

Of course there are. It might interest some here to know that I have never once complained to MB about my 2019 SL450. I never complained to them about my 2013 S550, 2015 S550, 2018 S560 and only complained about the rough shifting transmission in my 2020 S560. I’m not a habitual complainer, but when something isn’t right on something as expensive and important as a new car, I’ll sound off. I would love to have a drama free new sedan.

It’s a question of: what else is out there? Probably not the BMW 7. Not until a new Audi A8 comes along. If only Lexus would awake from their long nightmare. Probably won’t go Bentley. Porsche is only a Cayenne for me and probably won’t go that way. Cadillac is all Darth Vader with their styling. Tesla is crummy. Range Rover reliability and me—can you imagine??? So, I’m left with the W223 and the G90 and the Genesis/Hyundai dealer experience is not ready for prime time, but I still may chance it. The Hyundai USA Headquarters is just a few miles away from where I live. If things didn’t work out, I could always park the car in front of their big building and take a sledgehammer to it.

Fair enough, I understand now, I mean you are right there are no real options out there, are there no planned Genesis only dealerships nearby? I heard they are building a few just not sure about your area or remotely close to your area.

A sledgehammer... ah that reminds me of the video of a Korean owner grabbing a baseball bat or golf club and swinging it at his S 63 or S 65 or something after parked at his dealership that unfortunately was a lemon.

Hopefully you don't have to resort to that.

I see, yup I totally understand what you mean. Like I mentioned in my previous post earlier today you were enjoying your MBs, and the W223 was what left a sour taste in your mouth. I believe we can all see that and that you really do enjoy your R231 SL 450, sorry I mean Mighty Mouse : )

I have had no issues witth my handles, 100% works as advertised.

So about that rear climate: Couple grandkids back there last week playing with the stuff and they started fighting over the climate; one saying it was too hot, the other too cold. I pointed out that there was no issue as they had individual heating and could set it to suit themselves. But, you know, kids. They started an escalating war of temperatures, which eventually ended only when I threatened to turn around and no more beach. Because that's why I bought the 4 zone.* facepalm* Of course it doesn't go too differently with adults back there when you've got the exec, blinds start opening and closing, massage gets fiddled with, etc. Cause that's why I bought the exec. *facepalm* Truth is I do remember exactly why I bought it: I wanted the 4 zone and 10 degree and got stuck with all the limo specific exec package to get it. I seldom hire a limo but now I'll just hire a driver so i can say I got some value out of it. But damn... it would have been nice to have more options. That's all I'm saying.
