I guess the EQE was based on the design of the EQS after all but ya pretty sure many will take the W214 E-Class with the .23 over the .22 of the EQE.

If the EQE had the same as the EQS .20 then maybe just maybe ...

As for me, I’ve owned numerous EVs and at some point became allergic to the high frequency drivetrain noise. Already have tinnitus, don’t need to hear it from the car too!
Whether you can hear it depends on how “young” your ears are as well as the specific car. BMW and Mercedes seem to be the best here by far, and improving on reducing those noises over time with new dampening materials and inverter technology. Till then, loving my V8!
What low frequency boom noise and where does it come from?

Thoughts on it being in the headlights then? The C217 S-Class coupe had it first then now BMW has it. That crystal at least BMW claims it is from Swarovski.

Although I mean... the C217 S-Class headlight also used Swarovski

It never seemed like a popular option. I remember it being pretty pricey too. I always thought they looked cool, but there’s obviously a reason they decided not to keep that option going

They definitely do, and arguably the only real differentiator to the C-Class sedan, as the S-Class coupe as you know is just one DRL missing the two DRL (of a total of 3) an S-Class sedan has.

Given that the S class coupe/cab was a low production car, it would honestly make sense if they offered it on the Maybach. It’s not a mass market car whatsoever and it would be a nice added detail to help differentiate it from a normal W223. Keep it as an option so if someone finds it too gaudy on their Maybach they can chose to go without it.

Ya that would had been ideal, adds to the ultra luxury vibe of the Maybach, they do need to redesign the headlights though, to have the 3 DRL strips but in crystal instead.

I only meant as a comparator between the S and 7 it's a push because I don't like either.

They are not equal though; I had to think about whether I could survive 2 or 3 years with the fake piano plastic in this car: I detest the stuff. The crystal on the other hand simply isn't to my taste; I don't loathe it the way I do the black.

So I don't like either but the black put the sale in question, the crystal wouldn't have, but both fall into the cons.

There is generally more low frequency noise over bumps or rough roads in vehicles without a sealed off rear. That’s one thing I always notice in SUVs compared to sedans. It’s more felt than heard.

They make mention of this towards the bottom: https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2...c-engineering/

Totally agree, and I think sales are proving that out. The lease deals on EQ models are INSANE. Like, $500 a month insane.

I can't quite follow the crystal plastic in the 7 either, especially when they offer actual crystal components that look and feel great in other models (shift knob, dial). Could have to do with accident safety but I like how MB hides the LED strips better so you get the lightshow without the plastic look.

The seat controls and center controls are real crystal, not plastic. The center ambient light strip is plastic.

So that's the same then. But the ambient light strip is what everybody focuses on, given the real estate...

I ended up going with one of those lease deals. Never imagined I would, but glad I did. Just got back from a trip to Palm Springs from San Diego (2.5 hours) over the mountain. It may not be a looker but wow, the drive was every bit Mercedes-Benz and (to me) the ultimate luxury is never having to go to a gas station. The outside is what it is, but the inside is superb. In the end, value is subjective.

not ideal but I guess wrap the high gloss plastic and/or crystal or maybe swap it with aftermarket pieces?

In person it doesn't look bad, and when its lit up it looks very cool. I like it better than piano black plastic...

Absopositively! The hidden lighting in the MB’s is elegant. The faceted, plastic, faux Crystal just does not look like it belongs in a luxury sedan, especially a German one. Maybe something out of China. I really dislike the faceted seat controls as well. These are not supposed to be pimpmobiles, they are high end, German, luxury sedans. The accent should be on understated, functional elegance, not plastic, bordello opulence.

I don’t think that either material belongs in a $100K+ German luxury sedan. Metal & leather. Perhaps leather covered plastic, maybe.

To me it's obvious that the current 7 series, S-Class are built for a newer generation of buyers. I think the crystal elements in the 7 suit the car, as well as the exaggerated lighting. Thankfully, the Flying Spur (as has been recommended before) offers the legacy luxury you seem to appreciate, lofty suspension and all.

I've been told in SoCal but not specifically where. Look up the EQS leasing deals thread.
