Just me? But Seats creaking/squeaking in new S580

I only have 1,600 Miles on my 2024 S580 and just last week started to notice my driver's seat will creak/squeak as I move around in the seat. On turns I will hear the noise when my body leans to one side of the seat....and if I purposely sway from side to side at a red light it will squeak /creak...nothing super loud but it makes the car feel cheap. It is unnoticeable when i have music playing, but sometimes I just want silence in the cabin. Kind of annoying for a $140K car while my KIA Carnival family van has no such annoyance! Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Thank you so much! I am going to try this now. Ironically I called MB on this already and they told me to come in later this month. But i will try this now and see if I can fix it myself!

Yep, I eliminated all the creaking. You may have some residual creaking from the plastics after you do that, but I can help you solve those too. My seats are now 99% creak free.

I try not to bash Mercedes, because enough people do that already, and I genuinely like my S580, but the squeaky seat thing has been going on since the W223 came out in 2021. Four years later and they still haven't fixed them. Come on Mercedes.

The problem with a car like the S-Class is that it is so quiet and luxurious, every single sound will be amplified, so that does get annoying.

That said, it can't be too quiet though, I understand it isn't fair to compare a Mercedes to a Rolls-Royce but this is interesting: https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/01/succe...dan/index.html

Makes sense, but creaking/rattles/squeaking are different and would bother me a lot even in a very loud vehicle. I've had a W223 once and it was free of creaks/rattles; just as good as my W222. If I lived with it longer, perhaps I would have noticed some of the common creaking that people reported here.

Good news is that forum member SW20S' W223 is solid, think they mostly fixed it : )

It’s astonishing that this is STILL an issue with this flagship sedan. This has been going on since the W223 was launched for MY21. And, DIY? On a $125K++ vehicle? That’s nuts. You would have thought this would have been written up in 2021 and corrected at the factory at least by MY22, but here we are, so many years later and it is still an issue. The best or nothing.

I wonder if it is partially because people don't notice it and didn't report it to MB, especially if they have some tunes going with the 4D Burmester. Or am I being too optimistic?

IMO MB should be finding this info on their own. But these problems are not unique to the brand. It seems like we’re an automotive era of low quality.

I understand, everyone is cost cutting it just depends on where they cost cut at. For example, we were just talking about this: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post9142777

I have the exact same problem and when I push on the cheap plastic around the base of the seat, it duplicates the sound which drives me crazy. Have you taken it to the dealer yet?

Dealer isn't going to be able to fix it, its inherent to the design of the seat bottom. Scroll up and see my fix...also I have shoved felt into the separations between the plastic materials on the seat bottom.

So, it’s a lazy Sunday morning and I’m looking at the ULINE website, as I need to order some items and I happen to see this. Amazingly pricey, but might work wonders.

This I do have to agree with. I typically don't drive with any audio on so the only interior sounds are the creaks. Oddly enough, some drives are totally silent, others not so much. Interior/exterior temperatures seem to be a factor.

I absolutely agree with the temperature being a factor in how loud the creaking noise is, and it definitely seems to emanate from the plastic skirt that runs along the bottom of the seat. My dealer did do something with felt tape (not sure what) that made an big improvement (I know, I'm not being much help with a statement like that). Of course, a little bit of the creak is simply leather-on-leather noise….sort of like when you tilt back in the big leather recliner at home!

Well, sadly I thought my 2023 S was free from the squeaky driver seat that plagued my 2022 model, but as Carol Anne in the 1982 film Poltergeist said so eloquently, "It's back". Actually, she said "they're back", but for this purpose "it's back". I tried to follow Steve's remedy in my 2022 without success, but I'll give it another whirl in my 2023.

Here's the link to Steve's DIY.

Sorry to hear that, Mark
With complex design and functionality comes the risk of unwanted noise and rattles.
I've had to tear apart the seat on my old M2 to eliminate squeaks so this is not an issue specific to MB seats.

Mine is noise-free at the moment. Hoping it doesn't develop one further down the road. :knock on wood:

Now, you've gone and said it Daniel, so, the squeaks are just around the corner. Pun intended.
