65 Engine
anybody have any info on the 2007and on 65 engine?
Is it going to be the same 65 engine on current AMG 65 cars ? 3 valves per cylinder, 604 hp and such? or any changes on it or completely a new 65 motor?
The new S class has all new engines. 5.5 V8(S500) and 5.5 v12 TT(S600), correct me if i am wrong but they are 32 and 48 valves i believe.

Revised '07 SL65 has about 8-10 more hp and lb-ft than '06 iteration, w/minor tweaking.
IMO key questions re: '07 S65 are: how tight the steering, handling and traction are w/the new, revised ABC (and presumably ESP) software...and these new brakes' pedal feel and fade resistance.....

Engine basically the same.
New front end and recalibrated (newer version of software) ABC should both be substantial improvements to steering, feel, and handling.
Now, the brakes? Good question....

We just had a face lift of the SL65 so I doubt that it will change much for 07.
Where are these additional couple of HP coming from? Are you sure they are not just due to the HP conversion from European Standard to SAE? 612/604? At the Chicago auto show they said the new S65 has the same engine as the old S65. (Old meaning barn burning monster.....)
I would agree that after seeing the "New S65" brakes I would expect that we would see something similar on future SL65's.
Do you know something we don't know?

After re-reviewing text of SL65 facelift press release, etc, sounds like they're quoting 612hp vs 604hp for '06 65 (on mbusa.com)....suspect it's a units conversion issue, rather than any hp bump....so, arguable reasons to get '07 SL65 vs '06 are about 10% more direct steering, revised ABS, paddleshifters, etc.....rather than any hp/tq bump....
