Lowering Links or Lowering Module

What are you guys using? How easy is it to install the lowing links vs the module? I know the module gives you a lot more flexibility but I know I'm not one adjust and move around from one setting to another. Once I get the correct height, it will stay there. Will you guys that have the links or the lowering module please chime in with the pros and cons.

I would choose lowering links because its cheaper, safe, and it works!

I've had them for 3 years now and nothings wrong with them.

Links all the way!

Thanks for reply. I was actually getting ready to add to the mix lowering the car via star. Is it possible to do this on an 07 S65?

I used Ghost Lowering Links on my S600 and it's been 3 months.
It does take a couple adjustments to get the ride height even all of the way around the car, but once I did that, I was and have been happy. Especially $240 vs. over $1k.
The ride is a bit stiffer, but I enjoy the feel, personally.
In addition, sometimes the module requires the owner to have the wiring harness spliced into. I cannot speak to every module, but that is not so favorable IMO.

Thanks for the response guys. I wasn't sure how that lowering module worked but if I'm having to hack or splice into the wiring of the car, I doubt I'll go that route.

You can't get any easier than an ELM. You can change the height wherever and whenever you want.
It's all about what you want.
If you want to save money then go with links.
If you want easy to use, adjustability, slam it or stock, and don't mind paying for the convenience then go with an ELM.

Budget:$75.00 DIY links

No Budget:
MODULE-hands down

With links you only get an extra 1" of up with the dash button...ABC
With module and remote you are always good for the crazy parking lot to street transitions that can tear off your front bumper.

I had the ELM in my S500 and S600 and liked it. You dont really hack up the wiring, more like swapping pins around, it's delicate but can be done if you're handy.

I have not been able to lower my S65 with Star Diag.. It's just resets to stock height.

Thanks for the comments guys. After reading some of your responses and doing a little research it sounds like the module is the best way to go. I was glad to see the module could be installed as a plug and play unit.

It's not really 100% plug-n-play... usually takes about an hour or so to install.

I was able to get my 2006 lowered with STAR but only about 1 inch. It took a lot of time and seemed to be very picky about the inclination angles. Once you get the ride hight where you want it you have to calibrate it by doing a raise and lower. (Now if someone could help educate me on if the -10C mod is possible on an S)

You did this on an S55 W220?

What values did you use for the inclanation?

To do the -10 degree mod on an S55 (not available on S600/S65) go into Drive -> ME -> Correction Prorogramming -> Suction Fan and bring the value UP to +10 (reversed to achieve the -10 mod) and save it.

It was on an 2006 S65. I will have to look up the inclination values tonight, I have them written down at home. It took a lot of expierementing before it would finally take.

If memory serves it was 4.8 for the front and -1.4 for the rear (You have to use the minus sign). I started in .1 increments until it finally took. Before that when ever you would do the calibration it would default back to the original position.

As for the cooling fan mod, I found where to turn the fan on and off but I could not find any correction factor for the S65.

Thank you sir!

You can not do the -10 degree mod on the V12 models... that's why the menu is not there. Unfortunately!

Has anyone out there been successful in lowering the car more than one inch using STAR on an S class? Any tips?

Oxygen, I did confirm the angle values as 4.8 and -1.4 for the rear. I even tinkered a bit and lowered the back one more click. I am going to start another thread about Star lowering so I do not hijack this one.

Get both like I did....lol...then you can really slam it. Better have some money for tires though. That camber on these S-classes is no joke.

2018 S63, lowered
I can't imagine doing anything with a wiring harness, computers, star, etc.....I bought my lowering links from the below sight and it's the easiest thing I've ever done. It takes me longer to wash my car than it did to lower it....and they're fully adjustable. An absolute no-brainer if you ask me.

Hi everyone...

Got a question which is turning me crazy and can't find any answers..

I had an S55 AMG which i sold a few months ago for a very good price, but i'm eating my finger because i've done a big mistake on selling that sweet car So my question:
The car was lowered with Lowering links, car looked wicked but it had this system what i even liked more!
After turning the engine off after about 5/7min the car went even more lower to about 1' /2 ich more, it was sitting very nice on my Lorinser 20' wheels and as soon as i turned the engine back on it went back to her lowered position again!

Abc didn't have any issue as i tooked the car various time to MB and Suspension didn't have any leak or error!!

I wanna buy another S55 soon and would like to have the same setting as the car had...this system that the car went lower after 5 min when i turned she off was just beatiful..

Any sugestions, maybe the ABC electronic was tuned or something or do S55 AMG go a bit lower after turning engine off? it's something i heard from a German Mercedes site?

Hope i can get some answers

I didn't see anybody mention the c219 or w219... I got a 2011 cls 550. ELM is the one I'm leaning toward. My driveway is steep and ill need to lift the car in order to not scrape the front. Not sure if the links will lift the car that high to clear.... Plus I don't want problems if I take the car back to the dealer... Any thoughts from anybody???
