Most likely you will need to replace the PSE for the Dynamic Seats. Also, the PSE needs to be version coded so you will need to do that with a SDS (MB Laptop). If you buy a new PSE and just plug it in, it still wont fix it. BEst bet is to take it in to an independent shop that specializes in MB.

The other possibility is you have the side support already as tight as it will go. Try adjusting the side supports on the seat so they are more opened up and try it. I know on mine if I have the side supports all the way tight the dynamic seats will not do anything because they are already as tight as possible.

That's another thing, the Bolsters, message and sides dot work, neither side passenger or driver. So basically all the controls like under your legs but they light up it's strange. IdenticL problem on both sides. You really seem like you know what you are talking about. Are you a mechanic ?

I got my 2003 S55 AMG this year also, and the dynamic seats didn't work. I removed the driver's side panel in the trunk, by taking out lots of little fasteners, to get to where the air pump thing is. The piece of hose that connects the pump to a small tank nearby, probably less than a foot long, was all full of holes. The pump would run for a little while every time the car started but would time out because of the leaks. I replaced this with a little bit of refrigerator icemaker hose, carefully reusing the elbows and it has been fine ever since. The side bags puff up when you take a turn, very interesting.

I don't know how likely it is that anybody else would have the same problem. It was a time consuming but free repair.

I've had the same exact problem as Ohio55. My dynamic seats don't work and I get a pump noise in my trunk for a few seconds when I open and close the trunk. I'll try replacing the apparent leaking hose. brennanhill2003, please let me know how you fixed your problem?

Where is the pump or system for the trunk? My S55 2003 is having a tough time closing on its own and even tougher time opening all the way. It is very loud as well. Seems like the hydraulics are getting week. Ideas on not only what the problem is but the fix?

Newbie here :-) I have replaced the battery in my S55 and also the transmission lock that causes all the problems of getting the car out of park. Now I have lots of power (electrical) the car shifts out of park and all of a sudden, it will not turn over at all. No clicking, is this a starter? Is it a sensor in the transmission that knows I removed the transmission lock?
Thanks MB Forum members

S55 trunk system

I have recently sold my S55 but I did make a repair of sorts to the trunk opening system one time. It is a little hydraulic system in the right side of the trunk, behind the vertical cover, harder to get to than the battery. This system has nothing to do with the dynamic seats. Opening and closing the trunk had gradually become a nasty-sounding operation. There is a pump and tank unit, and a cylinder connected by hoses. The fluid in the tank had bubbles in it, which would get worse when I ran it on the bench. After determining that this was supposed to be a sealed unit and replacement of the whole mess for about $900 plus labor would probably be the only MB approved solution, I decided there was nothing to lose. I drilled a 9/64" hole in the top of the little plastic tank and tapped it 6-32. Then I used a printer ink syringe to put in some hydraulic jack fluid, for the highly scientific reason that I had some. I left about 1/4 air space in the tank. I put a 6/32 screw in the tapped hole. This didn't make any difference right away because I think the system was full of air bubbles, but eventually the trunk opening started to sound a whole lot better and it was still working when I sold the car.

I don't know where the missing fluid went. I happened to read something later that suggested the trunk opening system is very similar to if not in fact a convertible top opening system. If so, the correct fluid may be pentosin, the same stuff in the ABC system.

The most common cause of the soft-close not working on the trunk/boot lid is the mechanism at the lock assembly. There is a white nylon cover inside the trunk/boot lining that cracks and allows air to escape. Not fixing it will burn up the motor that supplies the air. It can easily be repaired by applying 24 hour epoxy around the crack in the nylon plastic cover of the lock assembly. Take the rear inside cover off the truck/boot lid and you will see it and remove it to repair it.
