Newly installed Heat Exchanger in S-Class W220
The primary HE was left in place and the smaller lower HE was replaced with a perfect fit larger secondary similar to what you all have upgraded on your EEEs (I didn't want to be left out). The NPI HE is very light weight. Monitoring air intake indicated lower temps, and faster recovery after revving up. Not able to do a WOT yet, need one more tune this week.
It's rubber mounted and has a rubber strip along the top to protect the hoses that run under the cross frame. No mods required for the plastic bumper but the rubber strip on the under carriage plastic cover needed to be trimmed.
Approx. dimensions are 610 x 180 x 76 mm, the volume is over 5 times and as light weight as the factory OEM Mercedes heat exchanger.
OEM coolant capacity is 295 mL and the new one is 1,570 mL or 1.57 Liters. Quite an improvement in fluid capacity and that matches the approx increase in dimensions. These capacities were measured comparing the internal fluid capacity from both the OEM and the NPI exchangers.
