Strutmasters?

Hello guys, I’m trying to jump ship and avoid having trouble with my abc suspension on my 02’ S55 amg. I looked into strutmasters conversion kit and I was just wondering what something like this would run me with labor ? Has anyone converted to those struts ? Any advice helps, thanks

I did a full Strutmasters conversion on our 2005 E500 4Matic Wagon. The kit cost $1200 and labor was around $500. My mechanic's rates are pretty low (especially for Northern Virginia). I must say I wish I stayed with the air suspension. I feel every dip in the road and need to go 5mph over any speed bump. We're several months into this. I was actually on the phone with Strutmasters today. They said to have my mechanic check the control arms and bushings.

The air suspension is such a sweet ride. I definitely recommend not messing with that. Fix individual components as each fails and enjoy the ride that the vehicle was meant to provide!

I drove a V12 W220 with a Strutmasters conversion and was not impressed. Comfortable in a straight line but as soon you load up the suspension in a corner, it feels very off.

For your S55, I would sooner check out coil-over options from either Yellow Speed or CEIKA and pair them with sway bars from the S430/500.

I gotta say my strutmasters are great, they ride I'd say 85% as good as stock, and I can eat speed bumps at 30+ lol

I agree yellowspeed or ceika is the way to go, but I don't have an issue in corners at all on strutmasters. She takes it very well as long as you have swaybars and its set up properly.

Key variable in bold. There is no sway bar option for the V12 cars unfortunately, which is the only direct experience I have to share.

Some people have the opinion that sway bars (V8 or V12 cars) are not necessary when doing a conversion. You, however, did it right.

As someone who drove it around with no sway bars for a while, that’s BS, lol I DONT recommend it at all. The option for sway bars is on Airmatic cars, you have to take lower control arms from an Airmatic car and a sway bar, as well as the sway bar brackets and hardware, and swap them onto the ABC car. It’s a matter of buying the parts for an Airmatic car. That’s the only way you can retrofit a sway bar.
