Wondering if has tried to retrofit a x290 car with the OEM Air Balance Package? Seeing how it's an available package when purchasing the car, I'm guessing it'd be possible to update the menus in the car once all the EOM parts are there.
In case anyone's been through the process before, hoping for insight in the following areas.
In case anyone's been through the process before, hoping for insight in the following areas.
- Is this something the dealer might offer even if it didn't come w/the car?
- Looking for a good resource for which parts I'd need to switch out?
- Saw a similar post here about the w213, but nothing on the x290.
In case anyone is wondering, found the parts in the link below. Then to activate in the menus, you can use DTS Monaco and modify the HU55 (Head Unit) module to change settings related to air balance, ionization, etc..

Will be taking this one next month or so, may post install notes and more on using DTS for this in case anyone is interested.

Are you having the dealership retrofit it for you, what are they charging for it?
Nah, gonna do it myself, seems pretty straight-forward. Link in second post sells the entire kit, then I can just go into the Head Unit and A/C modules in DTS Monaco to enable it and make it active.
Was able to put together a more comprehensive list, it includes all needed parts. Here's a pretty sweet parts site I was able to use to figure all this out, set to the page I used (if you have the 43 or 63 you can change the car in case the parts are different, I think they're the same though), in case anyone is wondering what that "plug" thing is on the part site and why it's left out, it's just a replacement plug-end for the fragrance housing plug if it breaks later (in other words, it's not needed on a new install):

Will post back after the install and verify if everything went well.

I would be great if you could pump canned farts or "odor of dead animal in August" for those times when you are on a really bad date but she is a nice lady and you don't want to tell her to just get out. Yeah I guess I'd rather make her think I had odor problems more than her to think I am mean or something like that Originally Posted by deadcat

Great write up! Was the system worth the effort?Originally Posted by deadcat

Thanks, for myself yes. However, it is a great deal of work, so definitely worth reviewing what's involved before digging into it.
I'm late to the party, I had this on a S550 Coupe. It worked for like a year then I never noticed the smell anymore and my bottle remained full. There's a write-up somewhere on the solution. But it involved that hose that goes up to the vent. FYI, in case you ever run into the issue, it's in the S550 Coupe part of the forums.
