what are your plans for the sound/media (bluetooth/telephone) system
are you going to keep the original one that came with the car, or do you have something planned to update it? any idea if the russian company you used for the steering wheel and window switches can integrate the MOST command system with the updated telephone/bluetooth into the D2B system the earlier w463s have?
Today I purchased sound deadening material from "Silent Coat" in Las Vegas. Roy was very helpfull and gave me an amazing deal. I purchased 140 sq/ft of the product and can't wait to start installing it all over the car. Product should be here later this week, will post picture when it arrives.
Here is a photo of what it looks like...

I did want to do that at first, but I might swap out the engine for AMG 55 at some point (in the future) so now I'm not going to paint it. I'll just leave it as-is.
Applied two sheets of the sound deadning on to the front door. It's going to get covered with a layer of "closed cell sound deadening foam" as well, but it's looking good 👍
hi, first off, this might be the best build ive ever seen! and i love watching build threads.
sorry im using your picture, but its exactly what i need...
i bought my g500 with missing ecu and the fuse/relay block, items in blue
I have since installed the items, but i have three bundles that I do not know where to connect. You have two of them pictured, hopefully you can tell me. both are circled in pink.
the first one is taped to the control unit on the floor, does that say door sill? if not where does it connect to?
the second is the blue bundle, where does that go?
While I'm waiting for the center shaft boot kit and transfer case mounts to arrive, I install sound deadning on driver side front and rear door. When knocking on the doors with your knuckles, difference is night and day. Without any sound deadening it sounds like an empty can. With it, it sounds "dead"... zero noise vibration in the sheet-metal.
I definitely recommend this product and this process if someone wants to make their car quieter
I looked at that blue wire and I think it was never connected.... It might be one of those wires.
**If someone else can chime in and tell us what is the function of this wire, it would be helpful.
Thanks

My steering wheel and front door window switches arrived back from Russia. Steering wheel has been modified to work with 2002 G500, it's now plug-and-play. (they also included a spacer between the steering column and the steering wheel cover up a gap).
Window switch internals have been reworked to operate with my original wiring. They tested these parts on a vehicle they had in the shop and everything is functional 👍
Now we wait for reassembly...
I'm working on another modification with them which I will disclose once they confirm that its doable.

I'm about to send out my switches as well. Might just ask them if I can purchase the diagrams and solder it myself instead - no wait, no shipping.
In regards to the paddles, if you want to do it, I can help you. I've done it on a bunch of different cars from BMW to Land Rover. I just recently did it on my RR fullsize. Although, I wouldn't really advise doing it on the G wagon, it doesn't seem worthwhile, the shifting in general is slow anyways and a little clunky, paddles would only be a nuisance.
Either way, if you want to do it, let me know, it's relatively easy and straightforward. I'll be doing it to my G when my stuff gets to Russia than comes back, if they dont want to sell me the diagrams.
What shipping company did you use? I plan on using FedEx IP or DHL.
Yeah I don't think it's worth messing with the paddles and getting them to work on this car... if I change my mind I'll definitely let you know .
I used the cheapest route they had available which I wouldn't recommend because it took a month and a week to get the parts there. I think DHL is a good company to ship because that's what they use to ship the parts back. I think it's still gonna take approximately about a month for the parts to arrive to them but when they ship them back to me I got it within a week.
I would confirm and double confirm the address and make sure it's clearly written on the shipping package when you ship it to Russia just so they don't have any confusion delivering it .
