Dec 2023 Stop Drive Recall for G 63 4x4²
Here we go again. Now impacting 2023 models. It's unclear if previously fixed vehicles will need to be fixed again.

This is for all 2022 and 2023 4X4 squared and they probably halted delivery of the 2024s. Looks like the rear differential design is weak and not a matter of manufacturing defect as they assumed with the 1st recall. This will take many months to redesign and manufacture a new differential for such a small number of cars unless they find an off the shelf differential that fits this car which is highly doubtful.

Im going to keep driving it, mine is a 23. If I see any leaks from the rear end, I'll stop driving it and hopefully they find a fix by then. If not I guess I'll start the buy back process.

You may not care about yourself or passengers but just keep in mind once you are notified in writing, if your car crashes into someone or drops an oil slick on a road and someone is injured you will be held liable. Competent lawyers always look for incomplete safety recalls.

I'll tell you how it looks in Europe. I have a car from December 2022, and three days after picking it up, I received information about the first service action. I stopped driving the car. It was in the repair shop until August 2023. After getting the car back from the service, I had a lot of trips, and from August 2023 until now, I have only driven 100 kilometers, so the car mostly stayed in the garage. On Monday, December 18th, I received information about another service action for the same issue. It really annoyed me, and I decided to return the car to the dealer and ask for a refund. Also after this information, I checked the rear axle (the car has about 100 km mileage on the new axle), and it's already cracked!!! Be sure to check your cars because if the "repaired" axle cracked just from standing in my case, imagine what could happen after a few thousand kilometers. Check your vehicles urgently.
What bothered me the most was that since August 2023, I thought I had a functioning car, and for four months, I COULD drive it, and in doing so, Mercedes jeopardized my life and the lives of others. Unofficially, I found out that Mercedes already knew in July 2023 that the second corrected axle was also breaking. This is outrageous!!!! I decided to return it because I don't want to wait another year for repairs, and I will never trust this car. I will try with my lawyers to get substantial compensation from MB.
In the end, I will only say that the Mercedes service in Europe has really disappointed me. I had to double-check if they were joking about the compensation they offered. Some voucher for €1000 and a trip worth €3000. Interestingly, after submitting a letter stating that I want to return the car, Mercedes rudely responded to me that I have to return all compensations, and there were even threats. A JOKE! I will never buy any Mercedes again...

And like Bill mentioned, his option is awesome. Bill is an awesome guy and runs a serious shop.

I have a 2022 4x4 Squared. I am not willing to wait again, so I had my lawyer send a nasty letter to the president of Mercedes-Benz Canada. Within a few hours of receiving the letter, a full buy back was initiated. Just waiting for it to solidify but I am getting the full purchase price back. To anyone else facing this issue, DO NOT GIVE YOUR VEHICLE BACK until a buy back plan is in place. The second you give it back and submit to the recall, they are NOT ALLOWED to give it back to you until it's fixed.
Anyone else go the legal route?

I'm hearing rumblings that there may be no fix for this from Mercedes and that they may just end up buying back all of the G63 4x4 vehicles. I assume current owners can essentially just wait until a fix / new part is developed. Is there a world where Mercedes scraps the entire vehicle?
