Scammers offering referrals via PM

Please use common sense when receiving a PM from a member who has zero post and recently joined. They generally involve a recommendation to a 3rd party for a part you have recently sought to purchase. Please contact any moderator immediately and the account will be removed. The PM typically reads:

"Hello,

I have a lead for you.. Please contact Timothy on ********* regarding your request. He is located in Loretto ,TN, USA and can arrange delivery. I purchased items from him and they arrived in TOP condition..His cell Phone # is XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Thanks "

I got the same exact email from that guy last night. Now I know who to report them too. Checked his profile and he's "Banned". Good work

Hey everyone!

We have had a couple more this week using hacked accounts. The PMs are fairly easy to recognize as spelling and grammar are not quite right. You can check an account with multiple posts by viewing recent posts, if the account has been dormant for a year or two it's probably hacked. Please continue to report them and the staff will clean out the PM and visitor messages. Thanks.

They are always trying to create or hack accounts to setup a scam. We have seen large sums of money stolen on MBWorld by sellers who disappear after the money was sent. Please be skeptical of any transaction with someone you do not know personally. Check an account post history, if it was dormant for some time then suddenly active offering 'good' deals be cautious. NEVER send funds via wire transfer or bit coin, once sent it's gone! Always use PayPal or a known escrow service. Never send money via PayPal as a gift to save PayPal fees because you surrender any recourse to recover your money. Search the internet for any scam history associated with a phone number or email address provided to you by a seller/buyer.

Please report any unsolicited PM offering a third party referral and/or a part or service you have asked about in a post. The account will be reviewed and banned immediately if a scam is suspected. Finally, do not make a hack of your account easy, please change your password. It is easy to do when logged in from your user control panel linked below. Thank you.
