I've seen em go on ebay in the UK for about £400 - £500, I would stretch to £600 including shipping to the UK... but its probably nothing like what you hope to get....

Hello b4mmy,

Thanks for your advice and offer. With due respect, if you can find me one for £400 - £500. Please let me know and I would even stretch to £1000 and buy it. Have a look at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LNew-...QQcmdZViewItem

The cheapest Pana top I ever saw was in Germany @ £1400, collection only... Needless to say, it sold fast! A standard metal roof will cost between £300 & £800 on eBay UK, dependant on what time of year!

HKSL, you should get a good price!?!

Don't worry HKSL, the last post has just explained how icecream gets more expensive in the summer...

Who wants a hardtop in the summer!?!

Pick your time & sell well, don't get conned!

Yes that looks superb. Its a Silver Arrows top and 2002. Have you got a price in mind that you are prepared to sell for... I swear there was one on ebay last September in the UK, which went for about 600 or 700, I was kicking myself as I was on holiday and missed the end by a few hours. I think as I'm in the UK the shipping will be impossible anyway, but good luck with it.

honestly i think you should try ebay, but even then i doubt you will get 4500 plus shipping. main issue being that you are in china, no offense, it's just rather inconvenient that you are such a distance

Here's another standard top thats not had many bids at £250.

Pigz you should be buying all these up if you reckon they are worth up to £800!

Thanks guys for your kind advice. Yes, it is now live on ebay. B4mmy, or your infomation, there's no difference between a 2002 Silverarrow top to any other glass top. Perhaps you'll feel better if you did get a 2002 silverarrow top! These Pano top retails for us$12,000 and were optional on the 129. Now really, who wants a steel roof?

Silver Arrows have chrome strips. Most others have black.

Good man HKSL, stand your ground. Ignore B4MMY, he's just p*ssed at me because I wouldn't sell him something (cheap) last year!
I suggest you wait for the winter months before advertising, it'll be worth it...

Oh...? That's not remotely true, you haven't offered to sell me anything at any price... other than pedalling your roof thing on this forum... that I'm not interested in. I am concerned that you are meddling with my dialogue with other forumers though... have you got some issues or what?

I'm not the only one to point out that your valuation of tops is inaccurate and misleading by the way.

Oh, that hard top was still at £250 with no bids last time I looked. If you reckon they will go for up to £800 why aren't you buying em up and putting em on your ebay store, you could make a killing!

Nobody wants a hardtop in the summer, get it yet? I just think HKSL should wait for a more appropriate time to sell his roof, just trying to advise, not purchase...

By the way:
Those SL Xenon lights I wouldn't sell you last year, still grating on you then!?!

Ha! Pathetic.

Would you like to post up the message that I sent to you Mark? I only asked you what you were looking for, I don't recall asking you to sell em to me... AND that was a pm, but since you want to wash your dirty knickers in public... I just replaced them with new 'ordinary' ones from MB, which look quite nice thanks.

I think the issue is that you have intervened in a dialogue I was having with another forumer, and whilst you are clearly not interested in his top, you seem intent on making sure he gets what *you* think it is worth.

I already said, for me, shipping this top out to the UK is a non starter anyway. And I wished the guy luck, and I hope he sells it at the price he wants to get for it.

But you have gone on here and claimed ordinary tops are worth up to £800 when they are not, and three examples have been posted up here that refute that utterly ridiculous claim.

It's clear from quite a few of your posts that you are mostly using this forum to sell your gear, and good luck to you... but unless you have formed a Retail Police Force, I hardly think you are in a position to set a retail price index for anyone else.

By the way pig, I am still grateful to you for the tiny amount of advice you gave me regarding finding an air con part on ebay (advising me to keep it to myself incase I drove the prices up!!!) ( ), but I honestly wish you hadn't bothered, as you are obviously a bit of a ****.

=====

For my friends in the US who may not be aware of what the pig is talking about... in the UK, summer and winter are hardly much different, its true that more people buy sports cars in the summer, but I think the average SL owner is considerably less fickle than that.

Yes I do like using smilies.

Piggy you missed this!

No one wanted it at £250! Well under your £300 to £800...

Thought so!

Its not cheap owning a Mercedes SL, but if you can't afford one, you shouldn't of bought one! (even an old one)...

Still, bored now. I have better things to do, not saying you don't of course! But I bet that dress you where won't allow you to stop here, so knock yourself out...

cost of owning a mercedes is overrated and over valued. it's not expensive to own a mercedes, R129 included.
