My username is SL55AMGSTER because i had made my username along time ago. at the time i was going to purchase a sl55 and that fell through and i ended up getting a sl500.
Thanks for the info on the mufflers fitting. you dont think i will have any clearance issues under the car? Have you seen this done before?

That said I do believe the 55 mufflers do not muffle sound as much as the 500 mufflers, so it's likely to be louder.

I think I read a thread awhile ago mentioning a problem with the fitment of the quad pipes as opposed to the regular duals on the 500. Better check it out before you jump in and buy the exhaust.

I've done it, no fitment problems under the car, brackets and hangers in the same places you just need to open up the bumper. The AMG back box is a straight through design with perforatted pipe and wadding as opposed to a baffle system in the standard 500.
You can choose to fit the extra resonators for the AMG (there's space) or not. I did but did away with the 500's merge pipe (very restrictive) to separate the left and right exhaust flows which gives a more trditional V8 sound.

Sorry. You mentioned what I was referring to. Modification or cutting of the bumper is necessary when fitting an SL55 exhaust on an SL500. Thanks for clarification!

I beleive he is referring to the under car fitment and differing pipe sizes which concerned me when contemplating this mod.
