SBC control unit failure
A few months after Crank Position Sensor replacement now this. 58K miles. only 2 years left on Xtd warranty. What a car?

How expensive
How expensive of a fix would that be if you were not under warranty?

Good question
I get car tues PM, will try to get $ for both CPS and SBC repair. My guess: 1500 for both, half the extended warranty.

2026 AMG CLE 53, 2026 BMW X5, 1972 Corvette
The SBC repair should be covered by a 10 year warranty MB offers on that particular issue.

sbc warranty
I thought the 10 year warranty was only for the pump? not the controller.

Crank Position Sensor replace: ~300$
SBC control unit: ~3K$
XTD warranty 3K$ but only 2 years left(shudder)

It shows you how necessary the extended warranties are on these cars if you plan to keep it after the original warranty expires. If I have been reading properly, it seems you can now get a direct extended warranty from Mercedes instead of dealing with other companies.

Anyone have any idea on how much the extended warranties are with Mercedes on the SL?

XTD warranty
I got the factory(MB) xtd warranty when I bought the car new. It was 3K$ but is more now. You could only buy it in the first year of operation back then.
