Try this:
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

I happened on this thread a couple of years back...
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...set-works.html
I was skeptical, but I tried it and noticed a difference. I am not sure how it works, but from my understanding it resets the adaptations to the ECU/TCU based on the driver's normal style that are made to improve gas mileage.

TCU tune was done on computer ,was told dealer had to re set driving adaptation memory so it can re learn new values done on the tune

OK, actually I guess if they tuned it, they'd want the car to relearn for whatever they changed. So if they were messing with it anyways, it probably didn't hurt for them to reset it while they were at it. But I'd doubt that the dealer has to do it, just anyone who knows the reset procedure.

Sometimes it is necessary to reset using the STAR system. Every so often we get a car that even though we tune the ECU, it requires a reset to help things along.

Like a full system reboot (or some kind of a super-ECU reboot) versus just the ECU reset described in the other thread?

To what TCU reset are you referring? Maybe you know something I don't (altogether possible) or maybe you have a problem with your transmission that I don't understand.
You could try the protocol that I referenced. It won't hurt anything and you might be pleasantly surprised. If you don't notice a change, at least it won't have cost you anything.
