HELP! Performance Upgrades for my SL500

Hello MB World!

I am happy to say I just purchased a 2003 SL500 and am looking forward to many happy motoring days ahead...

But like all the cars that I have owned I like to modify them. However I am having a hard time sourcing the mods I am looking for and wondering if any of you guys could help...

I would like to start with a nice exhaust followed by intakes and then possibly a chip for the ECU...

Any recommendations? Or any other ideas that you guys have to increase power and performance?

I read someplace that you can reset the ECU and this will boost performance...is this true?

Thanks!!

P.S. I would have liked to purchase an SL55 (then I wouldnt have to tinker with it lol) but it was a bit out of my price range

I know more about stuff for a 55, but for exhaust, you can do the most popular mod which is to remove resonators/cats, or you could buy an expensive system. In any case you aren't going to get any big hp gains, it's more about sounding better & shedding a little weight. I don't think you can change out any chips, but you can proably get a custom tune done which can add a little power. I bet if you did a search here you would find a lot of info. Also, it might be helpful if you put your location in your info, then people could refer you to local sources.

We have a nice upgrade for your SL's ECU. It will yield ~10% increase in HP/TQ.

Let me know how I can help.

Check out some threads in the SL55/65 section of the forum. Lots of modded SL600 guys post about mods in there.
