Just got my scorpions installed and added a pair of new BOVs man.....holy cow.

I feel a HUGE difference...and the sound is ...wellllllll loud.

The BOVs are loud, but not that loud. I am 70% loving it and 30% i am thinking...it sounds like a subaru!

Its weird....i think I will eventually fall in love with it. But the power it puts down is amazing. Now im gonna go with the 5.5g ice box and cool the temps down alot. I am preparing for new sleeves and pistons with boring for a stronger engine. And from i learned from alot of people here is 1 thing. No sense in making more power unless you can hold that power with proper cooling of engine and components...

But for any guys that want Blow off valves from speedriven...GOFORIT!

I chose the icebox route over the killer chiller , and i hope i made the right decison. I need to reach out to sean thericker to see what his thoughts are.

My opinion is the second HE is also important...
Thericker have the icebox kit but he have also a second IC pump.
Im gone install one more to + bigger injectors next summer.

I wish the best for your plans

Hello....

Today it was time again with the car.
I have changed the fuel filter in the hope that the old was dirty that I could get fuel pressure into place... 4,0 bar.

Here is the pressure measurement video with the old fuel filter.

and here's another videoa with the new fuel filter...

so it must be the pump. I have about 65000 miles at the speedo so I think is time to install a new one and this one is to weak.

isn't that what they should run at idle? I would think you would need to monitor it at full throttle to see if it can keep up.

I'm pretty sure its gone show the same....
When I dyno my car it showed 3,8 bar the whole run... drop a little at higher rpm.
I send the same fuel pressure video from the run to Marcin and he told me normally the fuel pressure must be 4,0 bar or 3,5 bar. If not my pump is weak or bad filter.
Next I'm gone change the pump....

CAI carbon fiber

Hello my friends....

The time has run very fast.... I have work with my X6M the last few months..
Now I have not so much things to do anymore with the X.
I hope for low 12 sek at 1/4 mile now.

Regarding the SL600.

- I'm gone change the fuel pump and try to got the A/F ratio at the right level.
- I have also asked for an offer about new CAI pipes in Carbon Fiber. I now a company who can made them. I only need to send them my 3" pipes and they made a copies.

Yes....of course I'm gone do that.
If someone else is interesting about those pipes in Carbon Fiber let me now.
I can made more than two at the same time.
I think the price is going to be around 700-800 Eur. (left and right pipe ).
Whole kitt around 900-1000 Eur. I'm pretty sure you can install it at CL600 and CL65 also. ( The pipe length is adjustable ).

Many of you have wonder why I have not showed my dyno chart....
I was so angry when it seemed that all the time someone told me I do wrong things and my modifications don't affect anything. After this I do not need advices any more.
Now I have to say that those who believed at my modifications got this dyno chart separately at their e-mails.
But now I've forgotten everything, and life goes on ...
You can see at the upper rpm range the power curve is going down for a little and up again. That is the point where the engine run to lean. So I think I have a little more in there.
Remember... I have downpipes with Speedriven 200 Cel cats...( Not catted) no ice trunk or fixed turbos . Stock Turbos and low read dyno.

You are welcome.

Some people deserve to be on your forum "ignore" list.

You're obviously doing the right thing.

So what's the verdict on installing a "homemade" intake for a 2005 SL65? Ekselent's intake looks like a great solution as it actually pulls in outside air instead of hot air in the engine bay and retains the OEM engine cover.

Are these kits being sold and will it fit the same on an SL65 instead of an SL600? Does the factory grill still fit?

Replying to an old thread, I am looking at the same thing myself. It's easy to say it fits an SL65 with the stock body but without actually buying it and trying it, who really knows? I'm also thinking maybe wrapping the pipes or getting them cerakoted might help. Not sure though.

Hello.

Here is few pictures where you can see how much space the air filters need.
Yes the grill will fit.
But you must do al the same modifications I have done at my car. I mean al.
My car have facelift head lights and I don't know if you have more space with them or with old class style head lights.

Two carbon fiber CAI kits is coming soon. One is sold for a member here and one is for my car.

PS. I'm pretty sure this kitt is the best CAI type you can buy. Clean look and al the way 3". Its made a LOT at my engine!!!

This engine cover is going to made at carbon fiber also.SL600 Cold air intake project-img_7268.jpg

I put together a 3" air intake for my car, but I noticed the car would often develop misfires at high RPM, once I put the stock intake(with pressure sensors) back on the issue was gone......Are you seeing issues without running the pressure sensors?

I have bought everything needed to do this and found it near impossible to fit, so its just sitting in my shed ! you need to remove the headlights and cut into the SL headlight Bracket! something I wasn't to keen to do and stuff up! there has to be a kit that can be retrofitted to the original SL design. My car is not Facelift, it is a 2005 r230

Sorry for the late response. Have been vey busy.
I have no problems at al. Its run strong al the time.
Now when I have upgrade the IC system with the "bleeding tank" its work great. No air problems at al now. The coolers is cold al the time. The tank bled the system itself so therefore no air no more. This is a must for al SL driver for sure.

I see the K&N CIA systems for Camaros, Mustangs, trucks, etc in JEGS catalogs (and others)...using a poly/plastic/silicone runner from the throttle body to the filter. It would seem that at least one (or maybe a couple) of these applications might have a size and/or shape RUNNER that would fit onto our TTV12s from the turbo to the radiator support. Has anyone done any research in this area? Sure would be nice to have a "pre-fabbed" factory looking plastic runner without all the hose clamps and BS. I wish I could go out to the Summit Racing store here in Atlanta and pilfer through their entire CIA inventory and see if one of those damn things would fit.

This has been discussed many many times. There is very little room to get through the radiator support. The piping can be done by any fab shop. I had a shop tell me no, they didn't wanna touch it because of the radiator supports. They said where the piping goes through is literally part of the radiator.
