very nice. although if there were one thing i'd do differently, it'd be chestnut wood instead of burl. the contrast is amazing.

Exhaust...

Shank, what is your opinion of the car after your mods? compared to the SL55?

Also, what is your opinion of the exhaust?

Trimmer,

Some time ago, someone posted a video clip of an sl500 with eisenmann exhaust. It sounded more aggressive than the 55. I then went ahead with the order of the SL600 with Eisenmann. I am the first 600 with eisenmann in the US Supposedly, but big deal. ANyway, with the V12TT, you can't rev it above 3k rpm in park or neutral, and the turbos silence the growl. It doesn't sound at all like the 500 posted. In fact, it sounds pretty close to stock. However, at WOT, you can hear the pleasant difference. I had someone drive my car and I followed, and at WOT, A loud growl comes on around 4 to 5K RPM, upward.

John at Eisenhaus in Bensenville, IL installed the exhaust, and required some minor cutting to have it fit exact. Again, This was the first one built. Great service from eisenhaus, and I recommend calling John if you're interested on one of these. The look of the car was what I was primarily after, but it does respond off the line a tad better. Nothing significant as far as increase in torque.....then again, I haven't had much room or time to test it.

Renntech Mods:
ECU, Transmission ECU. supposedly has 625HP and 745lb ft. Torque. A Chipped Stage 3 Porsche 911 Turbo and I are pretty neck and neck, all though I fall short around 130mph. However, at that time, the car wasn't completely broken in (215miles :p ) The car needs to be broken in more, as I only have 1200 mi now. However, I did destroy my buddy's Gallardo as if it hit the brakes. I didn't realize how slow that was. The SL taints the perception of high speed. My guess is that it will pull hard at the top end. Off the line, the car is not as responsive as the SL55, and sometimes I wish I had that Throaty engine / exhaust note of the 55. However, in the highway, as she pulls hard into the mid 150 range, it is soo smooth. Though your planted to your seat, your speedo is increasing almost as fast as your tach, with refinement, and without an iota of fear.

on the renntech mods, wouldnt that hurt the drive shafts as the cl 65 has heavier duty drive shafts to cope with the power... Also, how much does it cost for the kleeman module as I am upgrading wheels and want to lower it. As to the SL600. I like the car but absolutely hate it because it had a consisten check engine problem. Curious. did you notice that the temp hovers between 80-100 depending on driving full or partial throttle?

Beautiful car there, I keep changing my mind about what I like best when I see the wood and aluminium trim. What is that yellow thing near the gear leaver, is it rubbish or some gadget?

By the way, I think your supposed to remove the protecting plastic from the sat nav screen, but I know how you feel if you dont want it to get scratched

SL Shank I love it.... I think your car would look supreme and incredibly slick with the Renntech wheels

RENNtech wheels:

Never the less your car looks perfect I didnt know you cant rev the 600 past 3k when not in drive.

Nice Gallardo kill they arnt as fast as people would think... No match for the 600's fury.
