Does the iCarSoft MBII read vario roof faults?

My vario roof has thrown a "Visit Workshop" error. It's currently open, unable to close, no motion or pump noise, just instant error. Based on the diagnostic aid ( http://benzbits.com/r230/VarioRoofDiagnosticAid.pdf ) I'm guessing it's a microswitch problem. Now I need to know which one and I need a tool or a visit to the garage.

Is anyone aware if the iCarSoft MBII reads vario roof faults?

of course, it should read faults from all modules you see in the list, I can not image any module not there

problem with the beginner tools is all the other functions. soon or later you will move to Xentry if you work a lot on your car

It's my experience with Vario roof issues that more often than not there is no fault code. In these instances it is important to know the state of various conditions which must be met for the roof to operate, and iCarsoft can't do that. Spend $200 and get yourself Star Diagnosis.

Appreciate the advice. I'm investigating Xentry, so any advice along those lines is also appreciated. Not sure if it makes sense for C3 vs C4 vs C5!

If you want not being able tho code Online ever and locked with old cars go for C3
then the real solid and covering everything is only C4, C4 plus if you want to program 2016+ command radios directly from Xentry
FORGET about any other models
also, chips inside should be carefully looked up
85% of the C3's and C4's are build with junk inside
but just read around, has been explained multiple times
use search

Your car doesn't use XENTRY -- it uses DAS. XENTRY did not even exist in 2004. But any software with XENTRY will include DAS.

If you want the ability to communicate with vehicles newer than c. 2014 or use a laptop that has no 9-pin serial port, then get a C4 multiplexer. Otherwise, a C3 is fine. It's what Rodney uses in his side business, and he thinks the C3 is more reliable. Look for one that advertises new relays. A good way to find one is to search alixpress for the terms XENTRY or DAS within a price range of $180 - $220 if you seek a C3, or $300 - $400 if you want a C4.

Not trying to start a debate, just offer my experience. As stated above, there are some limitations with a C3. However, I have a C3 and run an old Dell D630 with solid state drive, and it does everything I need and more (I think I have about $350 in the system including the laptop and solid state drive, etc.).

Regardless of your sunroof problem (I hope you get it resolved), I do recommend you take the plunge with a Star SDS system. There are several options and choices at different price price points (and likely varying quality and ease of getting up and running). @pmercury has some very strong opinions about SDS versions/hardware, and he is way more knowledgeable than I am and would be a good resource (he has some very happy customers). Regardless, my C3 SDS system has more than paid for itself and I have never been disappointed that I didn't buy a C4/C5, or higher version software (or needed anything higher). The iCarsoft option seems interesting, but for a little more money, I think you could get a Star SDS.

@pmercury
Man, you are unfreaking believable! You actually created a fake account as this "Remington" guy just so you can peddle you Xentry crap. YOU ARE A SHAMELESS SCUMBAG !!!

And before you deny it, there's no mistaking your writing (speach pattern if you will). This is 100% YOU !!!
sean65 I just recently purchased my own Mercedes SDS system through Peter (AKA ********* username: pmercury) and when I started researching into getting a Mercedes Diagnostic System, the journey quickly left me confused and weary from all the different versions sellers were offering which I'm sure your experiences may be similar. Although I had prior knowledge that many of these systems were coming from China, with a little research it's easy to tell that most, if not all, of these sellers are just selling repackaged versions originating from China with varied levels of markup, sub-standard or dubious quality, possible added security compromising software, and no guarantee of a warranty when you encounter hiccups or product failure.

This is where I happened to run across Peter and all my concerns and uncertainties melted away. He embodies the essence of customer service and I can say with certainty that your investment in a Xentry system is best left with Peter. He is as patient as he is knowledgeable and he will help you navigate through all the possible pitfalls you might encounter had you NOT sought Peter's help and you will undoubtedly save money in the long run trying to do it yourself. Save yourself the headache and leave it to a Professional like Peter to do what he does best so you don't have to concern yourself on things that could be better spent elsewhere.
@sean65 That post from Remington is a fake. PMercuriy does this periodically when he wants to sell his sh!*. He has no shame or morals. And this is one of the reasons while some of us have stepped away from being active on this forum.

That's great, if you are who you say you are, then give me your phone number (company number that I can verify), and I'll give you a call.

The Photoshop'ed license is a cute trick, but I can tell it's faked. You have a long way to go before you become a good forger.

First and foremost, the seal on the left side of the license would never partially overlap the title or be cut off at the bottom like this. The seal was obviously faked in. If that was a real license, why whould anyone try to do that?

Your phone number is all I need to verify you are who you say you are. If you are indeed a person working or owning this business, you should have no problem giving me that number.
