I know there are hundreds of posts on adding Bluetooth capability. I have read most and I am confused. I have a 2005 SL600 with the original Command sytem and hands free telephone in the console. I thought there was a option of adding a "puck" in place of the hands free phone. I see several of these offered for sale on ebay. I am not sure if these devices allow connection to my cell phone for calls only or do they permit music streaming as well? Of course the first issue is how to remove the hands free phone that is in the console. I have the Mercedes workshop manual and I still can't figure out how to remove the existing phone! It seems to me it has to plug in somehow in that console but I can't find any release button and I am reluctant to pull any harder until I get some expert advice.
For a 2005 NTG command, there are limited options. For phone calls only, you can look into the "puck" option. If you want music streaming, you need a MOST box that replaces the CD changer behind the driver seat. I use Mr 12Volt that was purchased from ebay. It isn't perfect, but overall I'm happy with it. Newer NTG command units have a AUX input. Older ones do also, 2005 is in the range where AUX wasn't available.
2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
To release the phone from the cradle of course you pull the latch as per [1] (at least on mine).
To release the cradle from the connector you push [2] and slide it off towards the rear of the car. The Bluetooth units sit on the same connector. Not all the news about the ridiculously costly bt units is great.
For $450 and a few hours work, you can install a modern Apple CarPlay unit to replace the COMAND unit. I just did this for my newly acquired 2004 SL600; your 2005 will require a "MOST" converter instead of the 2003/2004 "D2B converter.

I also used Mr 12V sometimes branded as LA Power, works seamlessly ! just plug it into where the CD changer is behind passenger seat (UK).
I finally was able to remove the "phone" from the console of my 2005 SL600. It works in the car and connects to emergency and service.
I was hoping this device which has the MB part # B67875878 which is shown on ebay as an adapter to allow bluetooth phones to be connected. I can't figure out how to do this. I even went to the web site on back of device wireless4MB.com and got nothing.
Anyone have any experience with using this to connect a cell phone via bluetooth??
Do you have a mini input in your glove compartment. on the left side wall. ?
Or get an adapter for the cig lighter socket. This is what I did and I love it. Fidelity is good and phone calls work great.

Looks like the only alternative is using a device for the lighter. There is no aux jack in the glove box.
From my reading of hundreds of posts on this subject I thought the device I have in console could be paired with cell phone. Apparently not.
Not all cars have Aux, I had also hunted and there is DEFINATELY no AUX in glove box or arm rest on some years despite people saying its there !
If you have the CD changer and want AUX along with USB, Bluetooth A2DP music streaming just get the LA Power or Mr 12V that I mentioned you wont regret it and its fully compatible with the steering wheel buttons too, displaying the track on the screen via bluetooth as well. Forget using a cigar lighter adaptor they are crap, poor sound and you will get interference on other radio stations.
Thanks. I have the CD changer behind drivers seat. Does this have to be removed or does your solution work with/through the CD changer
No, CD changer can stay where it is, the only tricky thing is getting to the plug at back, to plug in your adaptor that's it. You can remove the CD changer without taking off panels, I did answer this before to someone, there are two pairs of screws that of you have a really slim socket you can undo then pull changer up and out.
See this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...latform-2.html
If you do remove the panels it will take you about 45 minutes the second time you do it it will literally take you about 5 minutes it's all about the learning curve !
P.s I sold my cd changer on eBay for what I paid for the adaptor so free !

The MB pucks seem to be less well supported with more modern handsets.
I used one in my SLK with a Samsung Galaxy, but my new model Motorola will connect to it, but nothing works.
However my Viseo MB4 works fine, and software updates should keep it working with newer handsets.
This is only way to get fully integrated hands free phone with standard head unit.
As much as I'd like to go modern Command replacement adding rear cam and bluetooth, the car is surely not my daily driver and I do not tend to keep cars all that long. Listening to the car's radio disappointing sound quality kept my expectations low but this adapter makes a huge improvement. The only hiss I can barely hear is between songs. Best $16.99 spent in a long time. There are other units that have song changing buttons more accessible though the space at the plug is really limited.
Have resorted to this option - cigarette lighter FM Streamer.. Too much of a pain to remove and install CarPlay unit. Most electronics places my area don't want to touch it or want excess of 2k for the work alone.
You get what you pay for, those cheap little transmitters are convenient, but really lack quality, you'll be losing so much bass and clarity compared to A2DP bluetooth music streaming, also good luck using it in the city, it will drop out with all the other frequencies interfering.
This unit is cheap enough and gives you AUX, Bluetooth music streaming, Bluetooth hands free calling and USB connectivity for £166.
