I know I would be hot if someone touch my car and put a flier under my windshield wiper.

I wouldn't be a happy camper expecially on an SL where is you pick up the wiper too much, you ding the paint on the hood.

Some insert the flier on the window rubber strip. i can live with that. Just goes straight to the ground.

I am trying to convince some of the local MBCA clubs not to do that. We want new members, but do not make Mercedes owners mad.

You guys need to lighten up. If this bothers you, how can you even enjoy your car if you are parked in a public place? I can understand coming out of a restaurant and having some clown leaning on your car or sitting on the hood while talking to someone would **** you off but a flier?

I am one that thinks it should be against the law to advertise by putting fliers on cars.

Most places are trying to stop this from happening. Ever see the streets of a parking lot when this happens?

I don't think people should touch other peoples property without permission.

Would I go nuts, of course not. Life is too short but I do believe it is wrong.

We had a problem several years ago where cars were getting damage almost at the same spot. The people that put fliers on your cars would lean over and the belt buckle or zipper would scratch the paint on the fender. My area has made the act a crime of vandalism.

If these folks had any ethics and brought up properly, they should not touch any ones property.

Some People are Just Inconsiderate

The flyer wouldn't set me off, but they could easily scratch or chip the paint especially if they pull the wiper up to far or to hard.

What was annoying to me, is looking out my office window and seeing a lady leaning up against the back side panel of my car smoking a cigarette. Now that p*ssed me off. I asked her please not lean on my car, when I really wanted to blast her. Some people don't respect their own things, there is no way they will respect other peoples property.

I'm not a fan of the flyers, but if I do notice the car is scratched, it'll be the last time that advertiser ever needs to advertise.

Fliers don't bother me - they go straight in the bin. Mind you, if I was in or near the car when they did it I may have a quiet word in their ear.
Well, maybe not that quiet.

But if they lifted the wiper and not the blade chipping the bonnet I'd go ballistic.

carlosfernandez,

Go to the links and see. We just had our monthly dinner/meeting last night. Had lots of fun. I am getting ready to go to Star Tech in Raleigh, NC. I joined because of the road trips and get to see and do interesting stuff.

I think someone posting a flyer under your wiper is the least of the problems you face leaving the car in a public place. Scratches and especially door dings represent a far greater and much more expensive problem to fix. The problem is that if you park defensively, by parking across two spaced, you're more likely to attract unwanted attention.

I think the problem will get worse as the population of Western countries age. Old people are much less agile in getting out of their cars and are likely to swing a door wide open to do it. BANG! A ding in your door that will cost $1000+ to fix and paint.

That reminds me of an incident 5 years ago. I dated this lady that had a 10-year old daughter. We drove to the store in her SUV and the little girl slam open the car door that almost knocks over the car that got hit. I asked her, did you just see what your daughter did, and she replied she is only a little girl. So I said, you can teach her what is right and wrong. I never did call her again after that incident. Since that day on, I have nightmares of little girls slamming car doors onto my car.

I used to go crazy when people had the nerve to touch my car, now I just shrug it off.

Life become ever so short when you care about these things.
