SL/R230: Brabus vs RennTech

How do you know this? I have heard just the opposite.

Bring on the firestorm.......
Good luck trying to stand behind the "masfarcy act" the first time you tell Mercedes that your ECU upgrade had nothing to do with you trans blowing up :-)
This has been a debated topic for some time. The issue seems to be that Mercedes can easily flag your car as being modified and void your warranty. It is then up to you to prove that your upgrade did not cause any warranty issues.
The flip side is that Renntech told me that they have rarely ever had a problem caused by their parts.
Enjoy!

Since they install it, I will find out how the warranty is affected. I suspect it will affect the Mercedes Warranty.
Get back to you on Monday about this with the scoop.
If you get one, make sure your dealer is a renntech or Barbus dealer. That would make your life a lot easier.

Brabus and Renntech have no affiliation with mercedes other than starting with their cars and tuning them. Some MB dealers are certainly Brabus and Renntech dealers as well.
Brabus and Renntech offer their own warranties that cover their parts but I would bet not MB parts broken by their tuning.
I would suspect that if your tail light breaks or your keyless go doesn't then you will not have any problems. However if your trans blows up or your engine throws a rod you can bet the MB regional reps is going to start pointing to your Brabus badge if anything other than cosmetics was done to the car.....
With all this said I am still thinking about an upgrade for my SL65 just don't mislead into thinking that MB is going to cover work from other companies. It is buyer beware....

Now if you put a RennTech badge on the back, you are inviting someone to look for it.
