SL/R231: Center Cover Question on R231 MY2015
For whatever reason, I laid my hand on the center cover (that textured plastic that sits in the middle of our dash and covers the center analog clock) and it was hot. Not burning hot, but hotter than I think it should be compare with my others cars, which are not hot in the center dash. Is this normal? If anyone driving for about 30 minutes and can let me know, I appreciate it. I can't find anything on this subject.
Thanks.

One thing, make sure the sun wasnt really beaming that day, or any day. At the right angle the sun could hit that area and make it warm/hot.

I'm thinking the engine was running hotter than normal even though the Temp Gauge was at 90 + 1 or 2 degrees C and the heat transferred to the center dash? OR, the infotainment system vending heat through the center cover? The other parts of the dash (left and right sides) were cool to the touch. I checked the oil dip stick when I got home and it was at the min point (but no low oil indication was displayed on the dash) - so I put in a quart. I'll test drive this weekend and check again. Would like to keep this as long as I can with only 19K miles on it, cuz I'll never buy the new 2023 model LOL, even if at an used price.
Thanks for your comments buds.
