The touch screen that looks like a 5 year old used a hot glue gun to attach it to the dash has been discussed for over a year now. Older folks like me think it sucks and younger folks think it is great. All in all you have no choice. All cars soon will look like this so you might as well get used to it….
Would love to see some photos of White and Black exteriors with the Machiato(sp?) interior. Currently have White/Ginger Beige and really prefer the lighter interior but afraid the White exterior is not going to look great with the light interior. Also think that they would all look better with the windshield surround in the body color like was done on the GT C.

The SL is designed differently than say the S-Class. The screen can tilt to eliminate glare when the roof is down.

I believe the words “help” and “mitigate” should be in there. The tilt will “help mitigate” the glare, but in many cases will not eliminate it. Is the driver supposed to keep futzing around with the damn thing every time he turns a corner? These screens are a bad idea in a top down vehicle, I don’t care what MB says.

Since I don’t want a 232, I have paid little attention to them. But after reading your post, I took another look and WOW! You hit the nail on the head! The windshield surround is BLACK and, in my opinion, looks HORRIBLE on anything other than a BLACK car. WHAT in the world were these guys thinking??? I see many 232’s visiting the local paint shop for some changes shortly after delivery. Sheesh, that’s ugly! I guess if it were part of one of their “Night” packages, that would be fine, but to make ALL of them black? It looks so cheap to me.

Not sure if this car is aftermarket or factory but it sure looks terrible. Talk about poor taste. My guess is aftermarket.

That's a fair point and better way of stating that. I will say, with my time in the car I had no issues even while changing directions multiple times on back roads.

I actually prefer it in black, makes sense since the top is black that you can have two separate sections of the design and colors, emphasizing the body more.

Of course, it’s all a matter of personal taste, but MB should have made the all black look part of a “Night” package and let more traditional folks have the surround color coordinated. Oh well, just another reason for me to stick with my old school 231, thank you very much.
Agreed, the R231 was always ugly. I still remember how Johnny Lieberman and Jason Cammisa on Head to Head mentioned that when they attended the unveiling how the room was dead silent with no one clapping or giving praise because the car was just not pretty at all.
The SL needed a refreshing and the new youthful and aggressive design suits it very well imo. Your Monza Grey SL is gonna be one hell of a looker!
