Thanks for sharing. You would thought they would get rid of that fake vent on the side for a SL 43 since the V8 had it for the V8 badge (which makes sense as the GT 4 door too had it and before that the C/E 63 models had a nice indent for it). Guess they didn't do that...

I think the GT43 also has the fake vent but they only put a biturbo badge there instead. I would prefer the old boomerang style (E63S) but overall its just one small annoyance in an overall beautiful design.

True, great point and I guess since they do have that biturbo badge there, that vent is "justified" but it doesn't make any sense to put it on the SL 43 that doesn't have any badges there at all.

True, guess we'll have to wait and see since this is a pre-production model afterall.

That black is just not doing it for me. I hope it’s just dirty and that’s why it’s giving it more of a grey look to me.

Other than the plug in port, it will probably feature E-Performance badging like the GT63e.

I wish they would have a better port location (like a fuel filler port design on the opposite side). The rounded curves of the bumper design make this port really obvious....

Exactly, they had such design on the W206 C300de or was it the C300e but I am wondering if there is a technical limitation to implement it on this vehicle due to various components?

Besides badge and e-port no other design things that differntiate? Is that the same for the AMG GT 63S E-Performance 4-doors (order books for that one open tomorrow, some special wheels, exterior colours, etc.).

What is the actual color called on the interior

Some look pure white to a dirty cream. Previous threads have stated they were not making what I would call a white interior?

This interior is Macchiato Beige. When MB first teased the SL, it was with a white/grey interior but it for some reason is not mentioned anywhere in the order guide or seen on any cars beside initial MB press photos.

Thx JS. What a shame. I really am so on the fence. Dealer here pushing me for around June delivery if place a deposit now and if he says June add a few months to that, perhaps more. I have always liked seeing the car beforehand and just cannot seem to commit but waited now for so long, so why not a bit longer! Was going to purchase the C8 and just gone off it as I really don't like it as much as my C7. Most hate the back, I love the rear but not so much the front, its just too angular and hard core for me..love curves. Wife wants a Bentley so at the end of the day, what I save with around 100K for the Vette plus another perhaps 145K for the new SL plus my car, I'm nearly there(as if) so it's now also a serious consideration.

If you don't want to wait, just make sure you at least have a refundable deposit. The dealer can always find another person to sell the car to if you don't end up liking it. With the car arriving this summer, if you do decide to wait, luckily it won't be too long, and the R232 will be around for a while, so its not like this will be an extremely limited edition or anything like that, there'll always be a chance to order one of these bad boys.

Hope you don't mind if I chime in here. I have seen quite a few C8's around here (note all coupes, I think the verts are much nicer looking) and the more I see them the less I like them especially from the rear, the giant side intakes also look like an afterthought imho. Now the new Z06 in vert form is a bit of a different story from what've seen in videos, and I'd excuse the odd shapes for that uber sweet sounding na flat planed 670 hp V8 . The new SL is a true gentleman's [smaller] GT and the C8 is a pure sports car. The Bentley is in another league like the S580/63 coupes, a very large luxo GT, but with plenty of grunt. I am toying with the new SL to replace my M850 and my neighbor has a new Aston vantage vert that I am quite fond of, and there's a new vantage V12 coming which only complicates things. I think the new Sl will be far more fun to drive than the Bentely. Another stunner is the new LC5000 vert, just gorgeous. We are all very blessed to be contemplating these kinds of decisions.

I really like the Bentley CGT, but I find the convertible just doesn’t work design wise. The coupe however is gorgeous and looks great, and I love the fact that there’s no B-pillar.

The LC500 vert is gorgeous, and I love the engine and interior of that car, just hate the infotainment. I also think the 10-Speed could be a bit quicker, but its a great GT.

I loved the last Vantage and DB9, but find the new Vantage especially to be very ugly, it lost the elegance of the old model and added a large grill which doesn’t work in my opinion. I also preferred the old V8 and V12. Also AM quality has gone down hill, I’d take the Lexus and Bentley over one.

Agree on all points, and with respect to the infotainment on the LC I too couldn't understand how Lexus could put something so confounding into its flagship until I spent some time with people who know the car, the answer is using the Lexus concierge, just tell it what you want it to do, and it does it quite well. For MY 22 the LC received a nice suspension tune to enhance high speed cornering, road feel, steering response (more linear), and handling characteristics by in addition to other things, adding a Yamaha sourced performance damper. My biggest beef with the LC is the absence of a 360' camera, these are fairly large cars and they need it, it's far overdue for the LC's, WTF Lexus? My guess is after MY 22 or 23 it may lose the NA V8 for the LS500's 3.6TT V6 albeit in a much higher state of tune.

Did see ALL colours in real life in the factory recently (no pictures allowed....). Was interesting to see, also with the different interior trims. No Crytal Silver available I am afraid...... and not planned on short term. Also no Emerald Green planned.

Many cars in Obsidian black, looks great, but the cars looks much smaller then in the lighter colours, like (normal and matt=magno) white. With night package, without, all wheel variants, etc.
