I’ve got to face it, it’s a sexy car and “sexy” sells. Here, along the south, Orange County coast, high end MB’s are fashion statements. Honestly, I almost see more G Wagens than Jeep Renegades! Seems like every little Newport Beach tootsie has one to take the kids to school. And, you just KNOW that the primary reasons they have them, is because they are horribly expensive and deemed “sexy.” It certainly isn’t because they drive and ride so great, is it? AND, the majority of them seem to be G63’s, again, because they are SO expensive. If the SL starts playing in the 911’s ballpark, it just might be thought of as “sexy” once again, and will be a big hit with the fashionistas.
It’s very nice but honestly it looks like a Frankenstein of a 91l from the A pillar back and mb from forward of the A...I know this has been the trend with some MB/amg’s of late but come on mb you’re becoming like the Japanese/Lexus in the late 80’s+... copy cats! At least the current and past generations of SL’s were unique.
As one who’s owned far too many 911 variants since 1985, I can say this car is not going to be moving very many pure 911 guys into one of these. Although for the pure p**sy whipped husbands who’s wives forbid them from getting a 911 it just may be a solution lol Unfortunately I personally know some guys who are simply not allowed to buy a 911 😔 and drive around in a fugly panamera (not for the extra seats either) drooling when a 911 goes by or pulls along side.
And b/f someone says it, imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but in this case imagination was left at the altar...

Well stated. Lacking style. Makes one wonder who in the world is designing these machines. As for the interior, the screen and massive center console kills the car... period. Takes over the experience IMO. Otherwise the interior was not bad looking, vents and everything else seemed clean and elegant. Not sure how the GT purists will receive this car and as for the 911 world...you answered that. I would NOT give up a 911 for this.

The entire MB line in general and the SL in particular, have been in dire need of a new palette of colors for many years now. Who knows, they might even give us a decent, solid RED again!
