2017 SL450
Anyone order theirs yet?
Put a deposit on an SL55 on Friday. Cirrus Silver / Red Pepper Napa / Black top. I went with the Touring Trim Line, and really no options (I don't use Distronic on my SL450 now). Dealer said deliveries will be late Spring. Let the wait begin!

Put an order in day after the announcement…SL55, Obsidian Black/Macchiato exclusive comfort seats, black interior trim, black Y-spokes, Night Package, not much else. Still waiting for PO# and pricing.

Yep. A $5k deposit on an SL63, with dealer's promise not to mark the price up over the MSRP, which remains unknown. No estimate on delivery time.
Alpine Grey, red top, red/black interior, 21" black cross-spoke wheels, most driver-assistance and performance options other than carbon ceramic brakes.

The reason I ask this is that this method of buying a car is new to me. I have never bought one and I did not know the price.

I've ordered cars without driving them before, but never without knowing the price, so it's a new experience for me, too. My paperwork stated that my $5000 deposit was not refundable, but my guess is that your dealer would refund your deposit, accept delivery, and sell it to someone else. The new SLs should be in high demand, and the allocations to each dealer will be small at first.
If you order a combination of colors and options that would be difficult to sell, the dealer might not give you a refund. So don't order a Sun Yellow with a red top and sage grey leather.

The Performance Seats were pulled from the DY2 package. As a result, I was able to change to DY1 Performance Line and to add CCB brakes and Carbon Fiber exterior trim.. There were also some deletes that I had to make and to also change one of the color options for the seat belts.
Still no price or delivery time frame, but I expect delivery sometime in May.

Trying to get a 55 ordered now. Dealer is trying to tell me I can’t even order a 63 because there are no V8 next year. Apparently they haven’t even seen the DOG about the 55s then. But that also raises the question, why where so many saying that Mb wouldn’t deliver any V8s next year and now we get these?
I also asked about pricing and they had no idea. I’ve got 1k down as a way to hold my spot so we will see and I can walk easily.

They didn't say no V8s next year. They said most of the V8s wouldn't be available and it's not a permanent thing, it's a model year issue. The S580 models are new as are the SL V8s so that is why they're still around or incoming.

I want black but can’t have it so we are torn between Obsidian and Selenite. Then what do you add to the interior to give it a nice pop. All the other stuff is pretty easy to pick.

Build the car on the manufactures web-site to determine MSRP. Not sure one would buy without knowing the cost or being able to see the build-up with all options selected? Avoid dealers selling at MSRP or above MSRP. They do not want your business.
