SL/R232: SL55 @ MSRP?
If so, I was wondering if someone is willing to share a dealer that is willing to allocate an SL55 at MSRP, even if it requires waiting a little longer? I don't mind going out of state to purchase and ship the car.
Thanks!
......and not know what the #$&%$ price is on it...
I have bought and traded a lot of cars and never bought one that I did not know what it cost...
And evidently MB does not know what it cost... hard to believe.
It's not like they wouldn't have thought.... well, I wonder if customers want to know the price???
And it's not like they just started working on it last week... they have had PLENTY of time to price it out...and they are not newbies at this.

The price is known when the car is officially available for sale which the new SL is not. It can be ordered in Netstar but that’s it. Until that date the price is listed with TBD or $0 or some $999999.
Happened with our cars in the past and the same with the current models, like the new S-Class.

No doubt same customer demographic, price, and both are flagships of their respective premium brands. JLR is rolling it out properly…MB is not.
Personally I expect the 55's to base around 130K and msrp in the 150 range. Before ADM of course.
This is as mismanaged a release and sale of a car as any I have ever seen. Any MAJOR manufacturer would do better. To not know the price of something you are selling to the public is not good business.
We shopped Tesla even BEFORE the release and we knew what we would pay...and that was on a very unique groundbreaking design. The four seater ragtop SL is neither and should be easy for them to price.

Sorry to say but this only confirms that you are unaware of how Mercedes handles or has handled new model pricing. You don't have to like it or agree with how they are doing it. Not that I disagree; I would want to know the same thing and the Range Rover launch stated seemed to be a good example of having it done better.
But apart from the botched introduction at Pebble Beach, this isn't worse or different than prior launches.
As for Tesla, that example is completely irrelevant as they use a consumer-direct retail model. If you like it then you enjoy being jerked around with random price changes that you lock yourself into at the time of order and enjoy paying list price with minimum service.

I am more analytical and critical when I see something amiss. The fan boys will.never see it because it has MB attached. I have never been a blind eye type person so I call it like it really is and don't make excuses for them.

Ordering an unreleased car is not the same as a purchase...

Never did make any down payment, not on my current cars, but alsno not on previous cars, that were in the same price range or even higher. And even with new released cars, you could get a (little) discount on MSRP (of course not as much as on older cars or cars in stock).
