Insurance

How much are y’all paying? Please specify if it’s a 55 or 65. Spent 2 hours online and by phone with Progessive. Progressive does not cover this model and is looking into it. So frustrating! Thanks

I use Farmers. Not sure how much I'm paying because it's part of a three car policy. I think around $700/yr for an SL55.

$1361 for 6 months for 2022 SL63 with USAA with $1000 deductible. But, I have 3 cars and 3 houses insured with them so that does provide some discounts.

Given what you all are paying I think my guess of $700/yr is too low. Not sure what it actually is.

Hmm. FWIW, our AMG GTC roadster is about $550 for a 6 months period; same for the M8Comp (Progressive).

Got an update from my insurance agent today. Turns out they don’t cover high end cars over $150k and was about to switch me over to their other division Hegarty Insurance. I told the agent I don’t want to switch to Hegarty because I know it would be much more expensive and that I will take coverage up to the max $150k. So with the max coverage with Progressive, It will be about $169 per month for my SL63. Keep in mind that I do have a company rental for work and the SL63 is more for pleasure and street racing, lol. I think that’s a pretty good price.

$ 150 k is somewhat close, so unless something catastrophic happens early on, you should be well covered and $169 per month sounds pretty reasonable - glad it worked out for you.

Does not liability coverage values, deductibles, Medical, mileage, tow/rental, state you live in and few other things effect what you get quoted?

I always think it is difficult to compare different people's insurance prices without that info.

Then you have the discounts they apply for multi-vehicle and other type insurance policies

One note - I was able to get insurance through Progressive. After talking with an agent. I do not know if this is a regional thing or not though...

Interesting, here’s a statement from Progressive’s website:

The $150k limits has always been there with Progressive but they normally insure a more expensive car without issues, knowing that their max payout will apply.

My assumption is that the original issue was based on the VIN number not being recognized which is common in newer model cars.

Both our M8 and GTC roadster were over $150k and processed just fine. Based on the deals we made there was little risk…

I think you’re correct. I just called them to move the starting date to this Saturday and they are having trouble with the vin. How did you get around that with you? Are you covered up to only $150k or over? Thxs.

2022 SL63. $1823 per year with Chubb, $1,000 deductible, $199k agreed value. They insure five other vehicles (and Hagerty insures a classic), my home, and umbrella.
