Question New to SL some questions

Hi,

Have not had a MB for a very long time but the other day I finally got a SL63. 2022 used, 3k miles, mint. I am trying to adopt my brain from decades of BMW and now Tesla (ugh...) to this. I gotta say I really like the infotainment but there are a few things I cannot figure out.

1. Manual says Home Screen has a "Service" submenu. Mine does not. I am guessing maybe it was deleted? No idea but I cannot access the service menu.
2. Door handle will not present anymore when I walk up to the car with the key in my pocket. I know I screwed up some setting somewhere. But no idea what. Right now I have to push the button on the key fob.
3. To get traffic, does the car have to be on my phone's hotspot?
(edit: one more)
4. Rear spoiler. On the little circular knob the spoiler shows amber for me. I can have it amber retracted or red extended. But it does not go to blue like the rest of the "default" options. Is this normal? I just want to keep it in auto. Btw when does it open in auto? On my 911 I used to have it extended at a specific speed.

I will have a ton more. Thanks for the help!

Rear spoiler is defaulted on auto and I believe spoiler height is based on speed. I haven’t reach speed high enough to have fully extension. You cannot physically see the spoiler from the rear view mirror unless it’s closer to full extension.

The auto door handle acts funny and I haven’t been able to figure it out since 3 months of ownership. I would prefer a simpler and cleaner design like on the corvettes.

That helps with the colors on the dash. I was wondering about that too. But what setting do you keep yours on the steering wheel knob? I can't get it to be blue.

If I remember correctly when my son accidentally extended the spoiler, I had to hold down the black selection tab until the spoiler icon turned blue on the selection dial. You might need to go through two cycles depending on if the spoiler is fully extended or partially extended. Once it goes back to blue, it should be in auto mode.

I am going to try that. I drove it a bit today and noticed that when I start up the spoiler icon is blue. So I guess the default is blue.

Now if someone would tell me where to get to the tire pressure monitor page. That would be great.

The tire pressure will show up after you drive around a bit in 2 places. The first place is on the app. The other place is under the Performance menu > Vehicle > G force.

As mentioned by @BLAM , the door handles can be hit or miss. Sometimes when the FOB is behind my wallet in my pocket, the signal is blocked. About 60% of the time when I approach the car, the handles will present themselves. I noticed recently that the handles don't present themselves in the morning when I go into the garage. Fyi, I do not lock my doors when the car is in the garage. I had similar issues with the door handles on my Porsche Taycan.

I just did that today. Press the Home icon button on the right hand side of the steering wheel, then scroll to the Service window (as if you were changing the gauge graphics.)

I didn’t know about that one (Service menu) under the graphics choices (left side home button). A fourth method is by voice command saying “Hey Mercedes what is the tire pressure”

My bad: it’s the LEFT side Home button.

When you adjust the tire pressure you need to reset the monitoring system and it’s done through that Service menu. I only learned this today because I needed to do just that.

Found it! Thanks! I was confused. In the manual it says Home > Service... I kept using the center screen home button. Never occurred to me to use the other two.

Few more questions:

1. My car locks itself with the key inside the car. Just happened to me. I also could not open it with the app. I was home and got the 2nd key, but is this normal?

2. Can you dim the steering wheel circular selectors? I took it out for a night spin yesterday to see the matrix in action. Man I love it. I know it is not fully functional and I know you can have it coded but it is still awesome. But the one thing that stood out was the circular selectors with the display were super bright. I also did not see an option for just dimming the instrument cluster. I know there has to be one.

Did your car come with an owner's manual?

This car I bought used. It did not come with a manual. I was told they don't anymore. I am sure they do. They have just misplaced it. If you are implying that I am not doing my own homework, you are not correct. I did find the manual online. I did search it for just about all the above stuff but it is almost 500 pages. Page 69 says the SmartKey should be outside of the vehicle for you to be able to close it. Mine closes when it is inside. I also found how to dim the instrument cluster and the main screen. But I did not find a way to dim the circular selectors only. They are bright for my taste.

Locking/unlocking the vehicle with KEYLESS-GO

Requirements:

- The key is outside the vehicle.

1. That happened to me, but it still allowed me to open. Maybe because the key is in the car so it’s within range.

2. Not sure if you can dim them. Maybe go lo tech and have them tinted with a film.

I was thinking the same thing. Worst case a light tint will do the job. Daytime it is perfect though. It seams the only thing I would be using these knobs for is the exhaust, and the modes on the right knob.

I will test the door more. But for me the handles did not extend, and the app also did not open the car. I had to get the 2nd key.
