AMG VS Brabus

I have finally placed my order for brand new sl55, finally gotta get rid of my cl500. What i need to consider now is the rims.... i got 2 in my mind. 1 is the SL65 rims and the other is brabus monoblock S.

does it look stupid to have a sl65 rims on a sl55? the rims itself look reallly good, better than any other rims i have seen... what u guys think?

Personally I like my Brabus but also dig the Lowenhart BR-5's (if they still make them).

Since this is a brand new SL, i would rather use some new wheels, like monoblock S or SL65

people will think my SL is second hand if i use old wheels...

as for lowenhart, they look quite hip hop annd that's what i would avoid completely.... i paid so much for a car, i don't want to look like some cheap black people showing off money... therefore, i will avoid black and chrome wheels.... they just degrade the car...

carlsson is too boring, lorinser is too common, not much choice left.

HRE is possibly okay too...but they are too plain if not chrome or colored..

Well I wouldn't know the hip-hop look unless you're talking spinners...

So lets see... you don't want to be one of those showing off your money...

Hmmm... You should probably avoid the HRE's as they're expensive and people know that. They'll think you're flashy. The Brabus Monoblock S are very nice but then again they're Brabus and as you know - Brabus by nature is pretty showy (defined more by looks than performance). Same probably goes for the Carlsson's, Lorinser, Maya, etc. The SL65 rims will make you look like a V12 poser - plus they've been around (old). No, you wouldn't want those either.

You're right - not much choice. You might just have to stay stock rims... not sure but if they're brand new for 2006 everyone will know you don't have a old car. Oh, and don't tint the windows... that way everyone can see that you're not black as well.

So Lowenhart's are too flashy and HRE's are too plain? Are you saying that the sl65 wheels are in between? Cause i would say the AMG's are the most plain out of all of those.
Try checking out Maya wheels, thought those might be too flashy also. Renntech and Kleeman have very nice designs, but they will cost a lot!

Oh, wow. Are you sure your not a woman? I mean this isn't rocket science we're talking about here *Or in your case dress shopping* It's not like you have to try on 1000 things before you know what you like. Women, they still confuse me to this day

Seriously, I have never seen someone be so picky about this before... It's not like the color of your car. Rims can be changed so, if you get something and your really that upset with them. CHANGE IT! You might lose some money on the back end but whatever makes you happy.

Go HRE... Lowenharts are boat anchors, cheap cast centers and WAY overpriced. They HRE's should are going to weigh less and will show off the bad *** brakes. Id run a 20x11 in the back... it looks sick on a SL!

Cheap black people? Where are you from? You must not be from around here (US) since there are people with bad taste or new money of all ethnicity doing god awful things to their cars here.

Personally I think comment like 'i paid so much for a car, i don't want to look like some cheap black people showing off money' makes you sound ...well I'm not going to make assumptions about you based on one comment.

oh and BTW if you are wondering, I am not one of those 'cheap black people'. I'm not even black! I am just reacting to the non-tactfulness of that remark... ok time for my morning power shake.

Sorry for this off topic post.

Why not the BBS LeMans wheel, IMO the best looking wheel you can buy.
Classic and sporty, looks just as fresh today as it did at lauch several years ago.

2006 CL65
stock SL65 rims all the way

no doubt in my mind

shouldnt even be a question

made like solid steel and have the best looks of any stock rim EVER

oh and BTW

a black SL with black interior and black rims with the chrome lip is the s hit, if you wanted to go with aftermarket rims

well in my opinion the SL65 rims on a NON SL65 don't look very good... they look good with the distinguished lines of the SL65 side skirts and front bumper, but when i've seen them on a plain jane sl with or without a sport package.. i'm not impressed.. they don't seem to fit the "curvy" lines as well as the straight edges of the sl65.. just mho..
