Car Audio for SL55
What kind of system audio do u guys have in SL55?
My car will arrive really soon and i am planning to have Rockford power component speaker set, but I don't know what amp to push it with. Any suggestions for high end amps? Mcintosh?
Another problem is the subwoofer, what kind of sub do u guys recommend so the car can still be convertible? Probaby a 8" sub is pretty weak though right?

it isnt a honda but enough of them have been done to for the information to be out there, any good audio shop should have the ability to work on the car

any reason the rockford power components? Not usually a brand most associate with high end audio. I know the power series is much different then there regular line but I think there would be better sets out there to supply the sound for the small(or infinite) cabin

Bentley Arnage Red Label
I just went through all this and the thread was only a few weeks ago. If your car is an 05 or newer it is very tough. I went to a few high end places and they wouldn't touch it. Reus seems to have a solution but they are in Cali across the country from me. The MB fiber optic wiring makes using the original head unit tough to do anything. Not sure the deal with the 03,04 cars.

IanSL55 is absolutely correct. In addition, Reus' work appears "OEM" to the eye as it is all done without additional cutting etc. Warranty is life. I have his systems in an '89 560sl, '00 E320 Wagon and a '05 Cayenne (Sound and Laser Detection). At a minimum, its worth a call. He may also have a client near you that he could arrange to have you hear. Good luck and Best regards.

Any updated apart from Reus Audio to upgrade the stereo system?.
I had email Reus Audio, but waiting for more info, however don't think is an alternative to my, because they will not come to PR.

MBWorld Fanatic!
It's a complete waste of money spending a fortune on an expensive sound system for a car, the one it comes with will be perfectly adequate.
Unless your going to listen to it at standstill.
A typical level of around 70 db of noise is experienced at 70mph, this will
be significantly more with the roof down.
You will also get low frequency cancellations from exhaust and road noise.
At high speed you wont tell the difference. My S Class has a Bose system,
and because the car is double glazed and well damped the sound is OK up to
around 90mph. But here is a test, drive at 90mph with your sound system
at a nice level, leave the controls and stop, you wont believe how loud
and how much more bass you will get at standstill.

That said, my budget is going to stay in the sub-3k area. I have a lot more research to do to figure out my best options for retaining the COMAND system, a stock appearance, and getting what I consider decent sound.
