.......I love my G55 but have become dissapointed with therecent problems I have had since the recall campaign was done to it and the ECu reflashed. If I am unable to get the ECu corrected, I will get rid of the car and replace it with something else. I have always been on the look out for a 65 series AMG.

........In the same price range as an SL65 is a Gallardo. Which vehicle do you prefer and why. I think the SL65 is faster than the gallardo. Am I correct? If so, does anyone know of any tuners that can tune the gallardo to make it faster?

After ECU re-flash my dealer sent it to Kleemann ,it's fine now.
Should also work in your case...

The Gallardo was my other choice when I picked the Sl65 and although I like the looks and the rareness factor of the G, the SL65 was a better car for me in every aspect. It is faster, more comfortable, has more space, can be used everyday with no issues and the hardtop convert. puts it way over the top. If you are using it for a track car then the G would obviously be the better pick unless your track is the Qtr mile! Great deals to be had with either car at this point. If you go with a G get an 05 or newer with the front lift. Jason Heffner in Florida does a Twin Turbo set up for the G for around 50k that makes it unbelievable. It takes 3 months and your factory warranty goes up in smoke. There is plenty of video of that car on lambo-power.com

If it was a toss up between the SL65 and the Gallardo........it depends what you want. The SL is the better all-rounder, but the Gallardo can be driven every day. If you aren't used to the mid engined lack of visibility, it could be a bit tough. The SL tends to blend in, even though it is a beautiful design. The Gallardo definitely makes a very 'Italian' statement......if you don't mind attention, that could be your car.

You really need to make either of these faster? Why? Are you a professional racer? If not, both have more than enough capabilities both on the road or a road course to keep you happy for years. Instead of pumping out more hp, your money (and safety) would be better spent at Bob Bondurant or Skip Barber, so that you can learn to get the most out of you and your car.

the 65 is faster. ive talked to my friend who has driven both. he said teh G was awsome because everywhere u look people were looking and snapping cameraphone pix. and when i asked him about the 65, he said "i was afraid to punch it, its scarry fast." that car is the ultimate sleeper! personally id take the G just because it would be more fun on the twisties and its not very common (vs the R230)

What about the F430? If seems like a better comparison to the 65 as far as performance.

..............Thanks for the replies. F430 is awesome but costs a bit more than what I am looking at spending.......but by the time you fit a twin turbo into a Gallardo, you are talking big bucks. Another option is the Ford GT.

.........The LM6 is on my CLK32K. Here is a link to the car. https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...&highlight=ted

The Ford Gt can be modded for little money and it will have huge power but for the same money as the SL65 I would take the SL. Hell, if speed is the main thing you are after you could get the new Z06 or Viper and basically turn them into whatever you want speed wise for way cheaper than anything out there that is actually still cool to drive. With the price of a used SL65 I would say that is the bargain car though for what you get.

the ford gt is wonderful (esp for the price!) BUT it is very un reliable! i think somthing around 18 recalls on it. so, ur choice. if i had to chose SL, G or GT. i would take the GT (if it was a weekend only car) and for the money u save u could do some fun things to it.

Ted,

A RENNTech'd SL600 (which is a tad quicker than a stock 65) is faster than the 04-05 G, but pretty even with the '06 G. These are real world results, not from test drives.

Ford GT is faster than either the 65 or the G, and responds very nicely to mods. G is good to keep it stock, 65 is great with just ECU, GT you can get kind of crazy with

The SL65 is nice, but the Gallardo is Awesome. Get the Gallardo and then get TUBI exhaust, you cannot go wrong!

These are vids of the SE, which is the same car as the 06. Maybe the exhaust is slightly different.

The 65 is faster by alot but who cares, the 65 does not make this noise.

Tubi Exhaust

Also the 06 Got the reverse camera and i think the Navi became standard in 06.

While I am posting results:

SL600 RENNTech vs '06 Murcielago roadster = steps away to 160
SL600 RENNTech vs '05 Murcielago = pulls away to 160, murcie reels back in above 160.

Both lambos were eGears...

Gallardo sounds sweet, but the BiTurbo V12s don't sound bad either with exhaust... although it's a very different sound...

That's my car... and that's just at idle... WOT is pretty awesome.

My one beef with the 65 with stock exhaust is that at Start up and idle it sounds like a beast, but then when the revvs build it gets way to quiet. Your car sounds great though.

ford gt are not THAT fast. the only real reson that there 0-60 is 3's is because the first gear goes to like 63mph!!! but ive seen vids of a ZO6 with headers and a cold air intake take a GT from a rolling start..... several times!
