Though it is a prototype....let's see what production car does on street tires....

4000lb 599 does ?7:46 NBR on ZeroHeros; has excellent ground clearance for easy daily use....but has dubious/primitive/laughable Ferrari passive safety...

Suspect SL63BS will also weigh 4000lb...but has wheelbase/ht dimensions more similar to those of 997TT....should score 599-like NBR, but w/AMG's typically superb safety....

Told by my dealer SL63BS arrives in Spr08....have grabbed early spot....unless AMG bungles the tires/ground clearance to make SL63BS non-daily-useable in CA, my bet is SL63BS will supplant both CL63 and 599 as most interesting driver's car on planet.....great stuff.....

Guys. I don't think this will be a Black Series. But I think it will be part of the so called "Signature Series" like the CLK DTM AMG.

Just a thought...

If your talking about the new body SL I believe it has a carbon fiber roof like the new M3 in order to reduce weight. SPy photos look CRAZY! love the wide body and hood!

My opinion is:

This is either

SL63BS (unlikely given the numbers archived)
SL65BS (makes more sense with the front air ducts for turbos and times)
SL63TT( is also an option to look at)
This car is a plat form for the new SLC (which is supposed to be AMGs take on the SLR)

I doubt it. Mercedes wouldn't release a black series of the next gen before the base model.

According to JackPro's audio clips, the car is turbocharged. We think its a V8TT.

This car is the SLC, I believe. Like I have said elsewhere, this is a closed coupe--the top design and proportions have changed significantly. Also, from the extent of the modifications in the pannels, this is more like a Signature series, as noted elsewhere here, hence, the SLC. That vented hood is way too much for a Black Series type deal.

That new frontend on the SL600 kind of ruins the lines on the original design. I don't like it.

Why can't it be the SL63BS? The SLK55BS has a non-retractable hardtop. Perhaps, they've done the same thing here.

The SLC or SL Black Series is so bada$$ looking. I really really like it.

That cg rendering of the new facelifted SL is really whatevers. The lights definitely give it an updated look, but I'm not a fan of it.

Anyone for sure when the facelifted 2009 SLs come out? Trying to figure out when the best time to let go of my SL wihtout getting hit too hard, already taken a big hit from depreciation.
